I love how the main characters are polar opposite.

One of Kasie West’s best. I had written out an elegant and long review but it disappeared. It was amazing from start to finish and if you love YA romance, read it. That’s all.

Lacey is starring in her first movie but she’s not keeping up with her schoolwork so her father hires a tutor. She insists she doesn’t need one, even one who attends her sponsor school. In addition, her director feels she needs to work on her on-screen chemistry with her co-star. There are no surprises in this fun, light romance. Teen actress Lacey is trying to get through her first film while trying to get along with her co-stars and fighting her feelings for handsome tutor. Lacey's interactions with the people in her life are fun and the scenes at the movie studio provided some insight into movie making. Some of the chapters lead off with scenes from Lacey's movie which ties into the chapter's theme. While the characters are stock types: leading man trying to revive career, overly serious love interest with layers, etc., West makes you want to read about them. An enjoyable romance that is a nice break from some of the more overly serious realistic fiction. Recommended for libraries where YA romances are popular, especially ones that doesn't tackle a more serious theme underneath.

Thank you Edelweiss.plus for providing an advance look at this book.

I liked it and it was just what I expected from Kasie West, one of my all-time favourite contemporary authors, but in my opinion, it isn't her best book. It was a little bit... forgettable. I don´t know how to say it. The main character was not that relatable to me with her being a professional actor and also, I really changed a lot in the last half of last year. Before I was quite inexperienced with relationships - just like Kasie´s characters - but now I´m just not anymore and somehow that made it harder for me to identify with Lacey.
And Donovan just reminded me too much of other boyfriends the author has created. He kind of felt like the less intense version of Dax from By your side. Kind of. He just didn´t impress me that much...
Also, maybe because it´s related to Love, Life and the List (which I didn´t like btw) it felt as if there were too many too talented people in this book. I mean she is an aspiring actress, Abby a successful artist, Donovan hobby is kind of a secret but also impressive. It just makes it a little bit unrealistic, that no one is like... average. Wow, I really struggle with words today.

I know my review sounds super negative. But all in all, the book was fun to read, so don´t get hung up on my review and just try it yourself.

This was like most other Kasie West books- easy to read, heartwarming, and slightly predictable. I really liked the plot (MC is an actress playing a zombie??) and the characters were relatable. If you enjoy most of West’s novels and need a quick read, you’ll probably love this one, too.
