I absolutely loved this book! I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. As always Christi's characters feel so real that you can picture them and almost feel their feelings. I loved everything in the book especially how neither one realized that they needed each other. Neither one thought that a trip that they were against to the Frost Fair would change their lives forever and for the better. The way they talked to each other when they met will make you laugh with how straight forward they were and every time he talks about his fist wife your heart breaks.

Kathrine is a heroine I loved from the start. She is bold and has no problem standing up to Jasper. I laughed every time she got mad because I knew her finger would be waving and poking. When she made her offer to Jasper she did it in such a way that you knew she meant business and that she wasn't going to run. She never backed down even when he told her about his wife and she was going to help him.

Jasper will break your heart and make you love him. He truly loved his wife and blamed himself for her death and punished himself. He could be cold to her at times, but because he loved her and didn't want to belive it himself or open himself up to any feelings at all. I almost cried during the scene with her niece and him because it was so touching and a bit funny too. I did cry when he finally realized he loved and spoke to the painting.

Every character was interesting. I loved her twin sister because she wasn't like everyone thought. Her mother feared what might happen to them so she pushed on her making her less than her sister. Both had people on staff that will make you smile and laugh.

It was definitely a slow burn, it took a great while to get there, but I really really enjoyed seeing these characters develop. I had issue with small bits and pieces, but that was personal preference more than anything. My main issue was Kat tearing down the coverings in the first few hours of living in his house. I liked that she was opening him up and he dealt with his grief but I do think she was a little fast and ended up throwing it all in his face at once. I hated that she kept saying she understood he loved his wife and was grieving her, but at the same time got annoyed that he did. I understand why she left, that conversation was not nice, and I’m actually glad they had time apart. I liked the introduction of Harry, and I’m very eager to read his book.

I wouldn’t say I loved this book. In the beginning I wasn’t completely convinced, but over time I really just enjoyed the story.

I love stories with a strong female lead. Jasper was so broken and riddled with guit thinking he killed his wife because she died in childbirth. It took a strong woman to heal him and help him learn that he can love again. This book had a Beauty and the Beast feel! I loved it!

Quick easy read. Good story. The male lead character was an ass.
