Elynn will not be pushed around.

Worth more than 5 stars. I absolutely loved Alex & Elynn story. The author had me nailed to my seat from when I started until I had finished. Alex is a protective alpha male billionaire & Elynn is a very smart heroine. She may be quiet but don't under estimate Elynn as she won't hesitate to tell you what she's feeling.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Three stepbro stars! ☆☆☆

I loved this book. Why the low rating, you ask? Alex has been in love with his stepsister for nearly five years, bought her an engagement ring two years ago, and he's still whoring around.

What I liked: The forbidden aspect. The forehead kisses. The size difference between the main characters. The fact that he flew 20 hours from China to London solely so he could go to her 18th birthday party. The jealous/possessive H. The gentle way Alex cares for Elynn.

What I didn't like: Alex whoring around while he was supposedly in love. There's a ten year age difference between them-- yet even after she turns 18 until she turns 21 he's sleeping around. The petty arguments between them. The OW drama.

I loved the premise, but didn't like how it played out.

safety:
virgin heroine
age gap (21h, 31H)
OW/OM drama
no cheating

This is a book I got for free during some promotion. Sometimes I find hidden gems in these "free for a limited time" or "free first book of series" downloads. Not so much this time.

Now, it wasn't terrible. There were just too many things wrong with it for me to give it a higher rating or want to read any of the books further into the series. First and foremost, my pet peeve...bad editing. I will always forgive a book one or two editing errors. But when I am constantly being taken out of the story because of sentences like "the busy executive floor was busy", I start to get annoyed. It can be the greatest story in the world, but a few too many of those sloppy errors and things start to fall apart for me.

I really liked the heroine, Elynn, a lot. She was a bit reserved but not standoffish, she was tough but not a witch, she was smart but not smug. As for the hero, Alex, it depended on the situation. He could be smug and controlling and a jerk. But he could also be gentle and caring. Far too often the controlling side took over. And although I did understand the love Alex and Elynn found with each other, I never got the warm-fuzzies from them.

All in all I found the story interesting but the writing a bit disjointed. I have too many other books waiting for me to continue with this author at this time.

Alex has been in love with Elynn, his stepsister, for more than 4 years. As she has been attacked when she was younger, he is waiting for her to be ready. There were some over the top scenes, but overall I liked the story. Just one nagging thing: we are talking billionaire here and security is still an issue?

Number 3 in the series (Stolen Angel) is one of my favorites and I am looking forward to the story of Gio.
