tropes: fake dating, friends to lovers, small town romance
Lovelight Farms is the perfect holiday romance featuring a small Gilmore Girls-esque town. It follows two best friends as they pretend to be dating to save the main characters Christmas tree farm. I like how Stella was so independent and how we got to see so much of her at work, it definitely helped put me in a holiday spirit.
I did find the writing kind of hard to get into at times, not sure exactly why, but this meant that it took me a bit longer to finish this story.

This was alright. Stella is just a very hard person to root for. It was stupids she lied about having a boyfriend in the first place but the self sabotaging was frustrating.

So… nothing really happened, eh?
The friends are not lover-ing, eh? It was really clear that they’ve been in love since page one.

I don’t think she realizes it, but we’ve kind of been dating for the past nine years.
Well, I don’t know, you tell me!
The plot lacks conflict. I don’t usually seek for conflicts in rom-com books especially if I want to turn off my brain, but how lacking the story and progression was if I keep seeking for it?
The christmas tree farm sabotage because a neighbor wants to build his own ALPACA FARM arc was probably the closest to one even though it was solved within minutes. The third-act confusion? I don’t even want to talk about it. The fake-dating bit? Not believable at all, the influencer judge knew it since the first time she steps into the farm.
But on the other side, I somehow like the dynamic between Stella and her best friends—though I’m not sure I will be following up this series.
Also genuine appreciation for giving me insights about christmas tree farm because I’ve just found out this type of farm does exist (it’s not very common where I live) and not just some made-up occupation from a Hallmark movie.

3.5 stars!
It was a cute story, but I did get bored and skipped a few chapters at a time. The paragraphs went on and on about little details that didn't even matter.
The relationship between the characters wasn't all that exciting but it was cute enough.
