I really enjoyed this one!! The writing really sucked me in. The characters were all pretty terrible, but it *worked.* I did predict some of the things, BUT it didn’t ruin the book at all for me and it wasn’t QUITE what I guessed. Once everything was pieced together I was like ohhhh okay.

This was a very intriguing domestic thriller. And the conclusion of the last chapter literally had me cheering 😏

Disclaimer: I received a copy through a GoodReads giveaway. Thank you to Gallery Books for the opportunity to read this book.

This book at me cheering at the end. Strange considering as I started this I wondered if I would be able to get into the book. It starts off real slow, but then as I read I could feel my heart beating. My mind eager to get to the next chapter and then the next and so on. I constantly was going back and forth on my predictions, who would turn out to be the villain. I devoured the book in two sittings. Faulkner wrapped everything up so perfectly, leaving nothing unexplained or forgotten.

Wonderful thriller, would suggest for fans of thrillers like Verity

Helen has a picture-perfect life. A handsome husband, a beautiful Victorian home in the park, and a new baby on the way. Everything changes when she attends her first prenatal class and meets the wine drinking, cigarette smoking, mysterious Rachel Wells. What Helen really needed at that moment was a friend, and Rachel had perfect timing.

“It occurs to me how grateful I have been for Rachel’s companionship. I find myself admiring her. She is so upbeat about it all.”

But Rachel is not what she seems. She is unstable, unpredictable, and unsettling. Helen starts to become wary when she discovers missing items amongst Rachel’s things. It’s apparent that Rachel is harboring secrets, and Helen is determined to uncover them.

So I haven’t read a thriller in a whiiiile.

This one did not disappoint. The storyline follows Helen’s pregnancy from 24 weeks at the start of her prenatal classes. It's told from three different perspectives. I think it adds to the mystery because you don’t know who is telling the true story. It’s very easy to follow. The scenes were descriptive and I was able to guess the ending but I thought the author did a great job with detailing the chain of events.

I don’t want to give away too much, but this is a must-read for anyone who enjoys crime and thriller novels. I also think it's really good for anyone who wants to get into thrillers but can’t stomach the graphic details on death and dying.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book in advance in exchange for an honest review!

Whew! This. Book. Has. EVERYTHING. Twists. Turns. Secrets. Betrayal. Drama. White women making terrible decisions and white men being generally terrible.

For real, I had a hell of a good time. I won't lie, it did take me a bit to get into this book. It's paced rather slowly, at least at the beginning. But the pay off... The pay off is so worth it.

Did I like the characters? No, not really. I had issues with nearly everyone, save for Katie. Katie, I really enjoyed. But I found each character grounded, even as the story grew more and more ridiculous and dramatic.

Did I see some of the twists coming? Kind of. But I read a lot of mysteries and true crime. And truthfully, they played out a little differently on the page than in my predictions anyway, so in any case... They were well-executed, in my opinion.

And that ending... I won't spoil it, but I found it to pay off pretty well, which is A LOT more than I can say for a lot of the mystery/thrillers I've read lately.

This is a book I wouldn't mind seeing played out on the screen, honestly. I will probably purchase and reread the physical copy of this next year, once I am able to get my hands on it.
