My Soul to take is the first installement of the Soul Screamers Series and My God what an amazing read. I devoured this book in about 10 hours. If I didn't have to eat, look after my son and have toilet breaks (lol) I would have probably finished it alot quicker. It was so addictive and totally different it just gripped my imagination and refused to let go.

The story is different to anything I have read before as it about Banshee or Bean Sidhe as its spelt in the book. I was wary at first When I first heard about this book. However, after reading so many positive reviews and I was excited and had high hope and was not disappointed at all.

My Soul to Take is about a girl called Kaylee who has "panic attacks". However, they aren't panic attacks they are premonition when she knows someone is going to die. (Not really a spoiler as this is in the description). Kaylee thinks she is going crazy and everything slowly unravels and secrets and revealed. And in the processed Kaylee falls in love with Nash, who isn't who he seems.

There are a few really great and unexpected twists and turns I truely never seen coming and I am really looking forward to the next installement.

Also in the back of the UK edition we have a wonderful and very interesting exclusive: Netherworld Surival Guide which has description of some of the things found in Netherworld

This is my first Rachel Vincent novel and I look forward to reading more of her novels.

I had no idea what to expect from this book. There were a few things going around about it and it received good reviews, so that is why I decided to give it a try.

You start off with Kaylee and soon Nash appears in the picture. It seemed a bit odd that he would fall for her right away. As you continue on you find yourself wondering what is really going on. The book will capture your attention and you won't realize it until you have to put the book down. Kaylee has to find out what is happening to her classmates and you'll soon find yourself getting into the mystery too.

The characters are different and play off each other nicely. I don't think they are extremely unique, but they work for this book. I didn't have a favorite character in this book though because you don't find too much detail or information of their lives.

Overall it was a fun and interesting read. I will continue on with the series and hopefully the characters will be more developed.

Re-reading in 2022 and wow. It's weird because I still really liked the story, but I definitely see my age influencing my opinions of characters. Still enjoyable, only taking 1 star off because based on my previous review below, I probably shouldn't have given it 4 stars to begin with.

I absolutely loved the premise of this book. I honestly didn't expect the plot to go in the direction it did.

So, to start, I love the murder mystery feel it gives. Who's killing these girls? What did Kaylee's uncle mean by "living on borrowed time"? What the heck is a bean sidhe? Let me tell you right now, I am not pronouncing it correctly at all.

The characters are unique and mysterious in a way, and the use of comedic relief is perfect. I absolutely love Tod, and I really hope he is in the sequel because he's just fabulous. He's sarcastic and annoying, but he's also intense and you can already tell that he likes Kaylee which is awesome because I'm always up for a love triangle that makes me want to tear my heart in two.

Nash is actually not my favorite. I think he is kind of needy, in a very subtle way.

Kaylee is great, but she needs to give her father some credit. The way she disobeys him and continues to get involved in reaper business is not okay. I don't like her attitude.

Overall, I really did enjoy this book, and I'm hoping that the rest of the series is just as enjoyable.

Okay how to begin this review. The book was pretty good. It was definitely unique and something new I have never read about. I like how the book began right away and was full of a bunch of things happening. I liked Kaylie she was okay and I like how helpful Nash was to her. I loved how he had those swirling eyes changing colors and I knew he had to know what was going on with Kaylie I had a feeling about. I think overall the book was pretty good but it wasn’t wonderful.

I definitely wanted to know what happened and was anxious to find out but I haven’t decided if I want to continue reading the series. I really like Tod I think he was my favorite character he was funny and I like how he was brooding in a way. I think this series has a lot of potential so I might continue it but we will see. There were only two things that bothered me. One I hated that Kaylie was insecure, she didn’t feel worthy of Nash, I have always liked those strong heroine. Not that she wasn’t but she was a bit ehhh. Secondly I figured out what the borrowed time meant like really early on and Kaylie didn’t figure it out till her father tol her. I mean come on!! But still pretty good not too many complaints. I think it’s different and interesting; it’s just not one of those books that scream MUST READ!!!!

How am I so in love with this book??? This was a complete surprise, I did not expect this world building and it was AMAZING! I loved the plot (guessed it btw ehehe), loved the characters, I loved how short but fast paced and intriguing the story was. I'm not that big of a romance girly so I didn't mind the "absence" of romance in this book. I think I will give the second book a chance but honestly it feels pretty good to just finish the series with this book. 5
