This has to be one of the most beautiful and most heart breaking books I've ever read. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this and feeling so deeply connected to the characters as I did.

Possibly between the 4 and 4.5 star range, which is extraordinarily odd for me with YA contemporary. But this book was an absolute delight--there was no denying the beauty of its poetic prose.

"It kicks the breath out of me, kicks bright light into me" is how I feel about this book. This book kept handing my soul back to me, looking and feeling a little better each time. Jellicoe Road is the only other book that's made me feel this exact way before, jealous and heartbroken and filled totally up. Something here about loving Jude like I love Taylor (Markham in JR), not to mention OSCAR and JONAH (Griggs in JR), my God, this book was so romantic!! And Noah and Brian!! And DADS!!! What a beautiful, magical book. What a high bar for literally everything else I read this year.

I loved this book. It handles grief, love, and personal relationships in a way that pulls at the heartstrings. The flip back and forth from Jude to Noah on either side of a tragic event is a brilliant way to unravel a story. As the puzzle pieces start to fit together and the reader begins to understand the depths of the plot, it really comes alive. My absolute favorite parts are when art is being created. The descriptions of color and technique are written in such a way that non-artists can begin to grasp the mind of a painter or sculptor. That desperate need to create. For me, particularly, it inspired me to work on my own artistry. This novel will hold a special place in my heart for a long time.
