Another good and infuriating read by John Marrs. Even though I know his books never ever have happy endings, I still read them with hope and end up bummed out when I reach the end. This one was more unsettling than usual, about on par with The Good Samaritan or maybe a tiny bit worse due to the triggering content. Just a warning for anyone considering reading.

Reading a lot of John Marrs books I can see how quickly he grew in his talents as an author. Honestly if I was given this with out an authors name I don't think I'd ever guess this was one of his.

The book wasn't bad at all it just was middle of the road. It felt a bit dragged out and there was a lot of telling/slice of life. I just couldn't figure out Simon and his motives. All if it just felt so extreme and too much. Yet the twists were pretty predictable. Which for John Marrs now is unheard of as I have so many ohh sh*t jaw dropping moments with his books. I'm so happy to see how much he has grown

This book was awful, I’m sorry. Story is told entirely in exposition and annoying time jumps. And none of it makes sense. The plot twist wasn’t predictable per se but not worth making it to the end for. He has other books worth reading but this is not one of them.

I mean, the whole story just seems unreasonable and unbelievable, even for someone clearly unwell like the MC.

This is my first John Marrs book. I joined a Facebook group that very into his writing. The author does provide a bit of comedy in the group which I enjoy. I decided to take the plunge and according to John Marrs himself this is the first book of the his standalone psychology thriller books.

There are two main characters Simon and Catherine. They are married and have three children. One morning Simon disappears without a trace of what happened. Twenty-five years later he knocks on Catherine's door to let her know the reason he left.

The story goes back and forth between Simon's events and Catherine's events for the past twenty-five years. I felt frustrated with Simon because he dragged out the story and refused to tell Catherine why he left. That is what everyone wants to know...the why.

John Marrs did not disappoint me on the twists and turns of the story both with Simon and Catherine. It was slow in some parts, but some times I could not get enough. I will definitely continue to the next psychological thriller he has.
