To raise money so she can open a bakery, Penelope decides to work as a courtesan. Michael, her first protector, is planning to stay with her only until he marries the perfect society bride, as his parents wish. What happens when Michael and Penelope fall in love?

If you like high-heat Regency romance with a power exchange theme, this book is for you. The characters are likeable and the plot engaging.

Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

A story packed with passion, tempered by love and acceptance.
Michael has a firm hand on his life until he unwittingly punishes the wrong girl. Seeing her in the auction at his theatre he realizes instantly that he must have her. Thus begins a complete reinvention of everything he thought he wanted, the life he had settled to accept. To marry a ‘drab’ girl and have an acceptable marriage. He is quickly realizing that the last thing he wants is ‘drab’.
Michael and Penelope are not your standard ‘ton’ couple but the way they are with each other is so much more. They listen to each other, respect and encourage while unselfishly giving the other the freedom to make their own choices. Things are definitely heated and not just in the kitchen. A very engaging story.

So steamy! I really loved Penelope and Michael's story.

Following the death of her mother, Penelope must temporarily put her dream of opening a bakery on hold as she looks for another way to support herself. When she visits the four retired courtesans her mother worked for, she shares her dilemma and they steer her toward the School of Enlightenment. If she finds a generous benefactor she'll be able to save for her dream.

Lord Michael Slade's father is ill and his mother is pushing him to marry before he passes. But she wants him to marry someone with good social standing. Who the ton cannot find fault in.

Before he can even begin his search, he meets a woman who intrigues him. She's to be part of the virgin auction the theatre he owns is hosting. And when his friends express interest, he goes out of his way to insure that he is the winning bid.

Their time together is interrupted when his parents return to London early and he must begin to seriously find a wife. But the thought of giving her up or her finding a new benefactor drive him to the edge. He's encouraged to follow his heart and marry the woman who brings him joy.

And Hannah does the one thing her training warned her against, she's in love with Michael.

Thank you so much to the author for this ARC to review.

Penelope’s Passion, a Regency period romance, is book two in Maggie Sims School of Enlightenment series. It’s a fantastic follow up to the first book, Sophia’s Schooling.

Penelope is a feisty girl who desires to open her own bakery. Without money, however, she decides to participate in a virginity auction. She doesn’t have a problem doing whatever it takes to achieve her dream. She’s expecting some ancient man to pay for her, but when it’s Michael who is young and handsome, Penelope is thrilled. Over time, Penelope and Michael grow closer - there are some fun cooking scenes as well as steamy bedroom scenes. Penelope forgets the rules and falls for Michael, but there promised to be an HEA with a little spanking on the side.

The characters in this book - as well as the storytelling and world building are fantastic. I love the supporting characters, especially Michael’s mother. The author has created some fun spanking scenes. Trust me, the kitchen is not the only place where there’s cooking!!! Michael and Penelope do develop a true, emotional relationship with mutual respect - Sims does a great job of blending all the aspects of their relationship.

Penelope’s Passion can be read as a standalone, but you’ll enjoy it more if you read the previous book. Please read this great book, and let me know what you think - I’d love to discuss!!!
