If you were a fan of the Percy Jackson books and enjoyed every moment of Percy’s wit, sass, and sarcasm, you will love this book. Each chapter is a story about one of fifteen gods and goddesses, and they are all told in the entertaining way only Percy can tell. While the Percy Jackson series gives you a general idea and basic concepts of Greek mythology, this book (while not ever claiming to be the best source of information on the mythology), is focused more on the stories and how the gods came to be, and the stories themselves are entertaining. I personally enjoyed them, and laughed a lot at Percy’s narrative (seriously, is there anything Rick Riordan can’t write funny?). The book also has gorgeous illustrations by John Rocco and seriously, they are beautiful. And I haven’t asked for/bought (technically, this was a Christmas present) a book with pictures in it since I was younger than 10. I think. It was an absolute joy to read and I loved ever minute of it.

Review for abridged German audiobook:
It felt all over the place and left out many important details. However, it was much easier to read than the unabridged English version for the following reason: most of the assault was more digestible (still awful naturally). It left out some of the assaults and kept others. I was glad for the reprieve. The English version has been unreadable for me due to the various assaults mentioned in the book. So if you are sensitive to sexual violence please be aware. It is not graphically discussed, but it is still present.

If you love the Percy Jackson series or any of Rick's writing for that matter, you'll love this book. I burst out laughing on multiple occasions.

This book makes me glad I'm a Christian and not an Ancient Greek follower of the ridiculous gods!
It follows the trend of writing in world history books by the main characters, like Clare's Shadowhunters Codex, or Holder's Monster Book by Giles, or even Rowling's Tales of Beadle the Bard with notes from Dumbledore and Hermione.
This one is different as it isn't commented on by Percy, but supposedly written by him.
It's full of wacky Greek god stories and links to Percy Jackson, the character and series.

Maybe Riordan should rewrite my school textbooks in Percy's POV to make them as fascinating...

I didn't realize how much I missed Percy's snarky POV until I read this book. Most of the myths I was familiar with, but Percy's version of events made the stories pretty hilarious. There were a few myths in this book that I had not heard of, such as Dionysus in India. Another great book by Rick Riordan!

Forgot how hilarious Riordan's writing could be. The anachronisms added to the charm of the book. Loved it and will definitely read it again.
