Why I didn't give this book 5 stars:

Some of the info dumping was uninteresting around ch. 3

Didn't feel any sadness at the loss of one of the characters

I feel like we didn't get to know that character well enough, and she wasn't made of emotion. She was just some facts put together.

My observations:

Between the first and this book, the MC has changed.

I don't know if the author is so talented to write multiple different ways or if she had just taken advice from reviewers or went through psychological changes in her private life

I love this series and these characters and the world and the magic system. I can’t get enough of it! It’s been a long time since I felt truly swept up by a fantasy series and I’m so glad I picked up book one! This book was another 5 star read, I couldn’t put it down!

i simply do not care! i was hesitant to pick up this book bc i didnt love the first one, but the ending intrigued me. the beginning of this book throws you into the deep end of a completely new plotline and skips a bunch of the events that i wanted to find out about in this book.
kind of a spoiler i guess but randomly killing off zan felt like the author needed him gone for her new plot idea and didnt know what else to do. idk if he comes back again but getting rid of the most compelling characters for no reason was stupid
