The goal is to read at least 24 books that you owned prior to January 1, 2024. The format of the book doesn't matter, just make sure that you acquired it prior to 2024. The prompts are designed to make it easier to adapt your owned books to the challenge, while also trying to keep your reading at least partially diverse. Otherwise, feel free to interpret the prompts however you want, no one will be policing what you add to your challenge.

24 books equates to about 2 books per month. There are 28 bonus prompts if you would like to aim to read 1 book per week (52 books total for the year).
