I'm not sure what to write about this book. I think the best thing to say is that I should have liked it. The characters were vivid and showed a witty and beautiful cross-section of American life that I haven't seen anything like before. But in the end the plot was too sad and dragged on too long. Many of the characters lead lonely, tragic lives that weren't much improved or expanded upon, they were introduced and then never seen again. I'm sure there are people who would rave about this book, I'm just not one of them.
