I've had this huge Mafia itch for the longest time that I could NOT scratch. Every book seemed so mediocre and this book was just screaming at me "READ ME READ ME READ ME READ ME" I just HAD to pick it up and god did it deliver.
Lauren went through a traumatic experience as a child but she no longer remembers it, for everyone around her believes that she blocked it out subconsciously. Lauren barely remembers her dad but the memories seem warm and that's all she can take from her past. After living in Michigan for 20 years, she finally decides to put her old life behind her along with all the pity stares she got from everyone. Now where to go but New York City? Where she meets one of her soon to be good friends and roommate, Amber. Mischa Volkov has been born in the life with the blood of the mob running through his veins and has lived and breathed it thinking that there was nothing more to life than what he had until he physically runs into Lauren with her coffee spilled all over him. The two paths that weren't meant to cross, crossed.
This book was adorably sweet, and had the most lovable characters. Mischa's love for Lauren is unspeakable and I can't wait to read the rest of their story throughout the series! I LOVE IT.
