Hopscotch by Julio Cortázar

Did not finish book.
Even though I expected pretty much from this book, somehow it only managed to make me angry and confused. Safe to say it might not be everyone's cup of tea, given the fact that the narrators are prone to overly philosophical streams of consciousness and the characters become nothing more than transient figures of smoke and ideas. I only wish it would have been a more engaging read, because the philosophical discourse somehow raises a wall between the reader and the events of the novel. For me, at least, it was very difficult to follow up with the events all while keeping track of all the concepts and ideas that pop up during one of the many philosophical depates that appear throughout the novel.

However, I will say that this book did manage to make me feel strong empathy for La Maga's character and to feel repulsed by Oliveira's attitude towards her.

It's a 2⭐ for me, but it was definitely a nice bookish experiment, trying to read a book in a non-linear manner. Though for a perfectionist like myself, it certainly was a mental challenge.
