I unfortunately found the main character pretty insufferable. This book was going to be my last try with the series, because I did initially think I'd like it (the tone sort of reminded me of the Enola Holmes movie, which I did enjoy), but the main character has continued to be so patronizing to every person she interacts with that I finally had to give up
I'd describe this book as something of a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meets The Mysterious Benedict Society. I loved the quirky charm, and laughed out loud a number of times while reading it. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the sequels!
Join Kenny and Grahame on their latest adventure in this charming follow up to Kenny and the Dragon!
Kenny's life has changed significantly since we last saw him. He now has twelve little sisters and his friend (and longtime crush) Charlotte seems to have less and less time for him now that she's switched schools. But Kenny knows his friendship with Grahame, at least, will never change— or will it?
In this sweet story, Kenny grapples with many changes to his life and his friendships, but he ultimately realizes that change can sometimes be a beautiful thing.
Also, the beautiful illustrations in this book are just as lovely as those in the first book. The art truly adds something special to the reading experience!
(I received an ARC of this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway)
Jane's adventure continues, and it doesn't slow down for a moment!
Now that Jane has learned her true connection to the manor, it's more clear than ever that she'll have to be the one to save it. That's easier said than done for a fourteen year old trapped in an unfamiliar world with few people she can trust. Jane battles monsters, detonates explosives, and makes unlikely allies as she fights to finally defeat the terrible evil threatening to destroy all of existence.
This book kept me turning the pages so much that I finished it in just one day!
Sam isn't always sincere when he apologizes, but after he has a run in with an old lady and a very tiny pig, suddenly he can't apologize at all— sincerely or otherwise. It's not that he doesn't want to, it's that his words— words like "sorry" and "apologize" have been STOLEN! Until he gets them back from the goblins (or, more specifically, boglins) who've stolen them to power their machines, he'll never be able to apologize again!
