I really liked this author’s Undead & Unwed series so I was excited to ready this but there’s too much going on. Were-bear detective/social workers trying to stop trafficking of were-kids. The FMC’s dialogue & internal narration was chaotic, & very bubbly for the surrounding plot. The love interests have made no moves towards eachother yet, & I don’t care if they do which doesn’t bode well for the rest of the book

slow in the middle but I did want to see how it turned out
Rosie & husband inherit an enviable NYC apartment with a dark history. It had all the trappings of a solid domestic thriller, but it also had supernatural elements. That’s where it kind of lost me. But maybe it’s ok if that’s what you are looking for. Visions, ghosts, mediums, a doorman who is always on duty…
The echos of the past was a nice touch. I got towards the end & thought there were plot holes & suddenly it all collided.

Tessa get pulled in different directions by 3 adventurous men & doubts her judgement as she tries to pick apart their motives. Infuriating indecision at times but complex & entertaining. We get more POVs, & a conspiracy brings more information about the sickness itself.
What Lies Between Us by John Marrs

I had to read this quick because the trauma was ALOT. Unlike many reviewers I had little to no sympathy for Maggie… I was glad when Nina took her rage elsewhere because it somewhat balanced the story.
I was so eager to see how the backstory unfolded & Marrs did a masterful job writing both the women.
I don’t get the sympathy for Maggie though, she thinks her husband molested their daughter causing this psychosis but she never gets her daughter any help, terminates her daughters pregnancy w/out consent. Lies to Nina about her own medical history, makes her go through PP w/out her baby, drugs her out of her mind, ruining Nina’s future health… sabotages her as an adult… but we feel bad for Maggie? No… no…
I was so eager to see how the backstory unfolded & Marrs did a masterful job writing both the women.

Both stories were really good. After laying low & raising their young child for a few years Kate & Curran re-evaluate what they want for their own legacies as well as Conlan’s future & admit they can’t resist the adventure.

So Cute! Harlow (a regular human) moves to a supernatural town & meets woman she likes. But that woman is trying to help her deceased ex (a ghost she accidentally summoned) with her unfinished business. A sapphic romcom + cozy mystery. The world building isn’t that deep & theres only tidbits from the side characters, but it’s fun, I’d read more from the town.

The case itself was crazy but the book was just ok. Chablis & Minerva were awesome tho.

DNFing at 40%… I could probably suffer through this book but would not consider continuing the series. So it seems pointless. someone tell this MC what is going on. 😂 both of the guys are so bland. I have an inkling about how this story will go, but I have read 234 pages & nothing has happened except some boy who is probably a vampire ate a strawberry in her direction, walked her to class & smelled her hair.

I felt that Mortana’s character was inconsistent (she starts out shallow & rude and then becomes an expert on interpreting the moods of those around her from out of nowhere) & I wanted a bigger resolution for the New Coven. A lot of people are still being lied to here, idk & I’m glad Ivy finally got it together, her family being upset made no sense to me… because it’s “dark magic” but your child was dying an untimely death… hello? I thought Wolfe helping Landon was going to bridge the gap with the Mainlanders but then they gave them the mind eraser, like, stop doing that. How is THAT not the “dark magic”
