we swam, fearless and free and invisible in the brilliant dark.

God.. this was as bittersweet as it can get. Absolutely adored how subtly biased the story is told by Ludwik, especially at instances where Janusz was described so beautifully. To be honest I had hoped it'd steer into a different course towards the last pages. But I loved how impactfully real the ending was. Thank you for this amazing debut!

"Ajaklah kita juga kalau begitu."
Reread it. GAGGED again I fear. I find this to still be humorous like what... I am laughing and at the same time fearing for the character's sanity??? I love Ray so much it's concerning btw. It's the queer theatre characters for me. I don't think I'll be able to find the second book anytime soon but for me, the ending is already enough. Thank you for breaking my heart again Gantung <3

A nice slice of life read :3 Loved the ending sm! Gon was definitely unexpected, and I loved him for it. There were a few elements that were out of the blue and parts that felt tooooo quick. But Almond is great if you're looking for something simple yet engaging!
