The Player by Kresley Cole
Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.

Unfunny. Unrealistic (the dialogue - BLEH - and the story). Complete insta-love that made absolutely no sense (read: unrealistic). Uninteresting. Couldn't do it. Especially the internal monologue of the FMC. It was all *clutching pearls* and "who me?" and *doe eyes* while also trying to convince us that she was a seasoned con artist... Nah. Not buying it. And the MMC?? Not even a hint of attraction to, or interest in, him. Oh, and all the bloody exclamation points!!!! Cool!! It!!!

I've read a lot of mediocre books... this was not that. This was unbearable.

Beautiful writing. Beautiful world building. I could spend every day for the rest of my life reading about Tiss & Max. I only wished the ending had been more nuanced and flushed out. I wish we'd been able to spend more time in Aefe's head and understand Caduan a bit more near the end. Everything tied up a bit too nicely for me.
