This book was a time! I enjoyed reading it so muched and watching these characters grow to trust each other and grow with each other. In this book we follow Ollie and Silas as they make an agreement to fake date one another. Ollie is desperate in the bar when she realizes her nemesis is now dating her ex. She sees Silas sitting there and goes up to him and tells him she is going to kiss him and she does. After the kiss Silas says she owes him a favor in return. This favor is to help him with his ex, who gets a job where he works and asks Ollie to help him keep her away.
Watching them grow together as they begin to get to know each other and trust each other really brought joy to my heart. Throughout we see Silas have a hard time opening up and letting someone romantically back into his life because of how his ex betrayed his trust. So, to see him start to trust Ollie and want to be better for her was really heartwarming because he was allowing himself to be vulnerable with someone even though that really scared him.
Now for the spice! From the get go there was an attraction between the two but because of the agreement they didn’t let themselves go there. However, once they realize they are falling for eachother they allow themselves to go over that boundary. Now once the spice begins it does not slow down! They allow themselves to be vulnerable with each other. Something that I love when this starts is how they communicate with one another about what they want and how they don’t want it to be about themselves but their partner. From the beginning Ollie is very open about talking about sex and what she wished her ex would do but he wouldn’t want to explore like that and Silas was the same way because his ex was pushing him away. So it was nice to see them not shy away from those conversations and speak openly about it with one another.
Now as much as I enjoyed the characters growing together there were some things I wished were in the book more. Such as Ollie's time with her internship. We see Silas at and also talking about his games and practices (not in depth but it's there) however, with Ollie it was such a big thing in the beginning how she was needing to do well for this internship to get credit. So I wished we could see more of that side of Ollie and see her go through school and deal with her nemesis more than at the beginning and end of the story.
While I wanted that I’m happy, Ollie stood up for herself against Roberts (her boss) after she found out how horrible he actually was, and that she did not want to be a part of a company that would release things to tear people down. She also confronted Candice, her nemesis (in a sense) and left. Now this was after the third act break up, so because Ollie lost everything and she was in VanCouver on a school visa she had to move back to America. So, she told the truth and got a job at a company in LA.
Silas also found out the truth and went after her. Realizing she would never do that to him and that she was the best thing to happen to him. They reunited and talked about what happened and ended up working things out.
