This is a first read by this author and I was very pleasantly surprised to find a great story full with not only the ton and their exploits but the danger of spite and the spice of the bedroom as well.

The novel flowed really well and I wasn't really willing to put it down for long. I admired the modern self awareness in her female protagonist and the modern unselfishness of pleasure in her male.

I have read quite a few Regency romances but this one stood out for me as being exceptionally well researched in the times, especially in the language used. So many times when I stumbled on an unfamiliar word or thought there was a typo, I reached for the Google dictionary and found new words to add to my knowledge of the era. No typos to be found. These words were peppered throughout and used in the correct context,  not thrust upon the readers all at once.

All in all, I enjoyed the book and wouldn't hesitate to reach for another Emma Orchard creation!

What do you get with a sassy yet grumpy protagonist, a world full of superpowers and special powers made from industrial pollution in a modern take on Victorian London? An instant hit! Couple that with a porridge eating pigeon, a dopey band of assassins, a love interest who can read minds and a friend with hideous taste in wallpaper, and you had a book that I couldn't put down!

This book was full of hilarious writing and just nonsensical information. It was heartwarming and fun. I would dearly like to read anything else that the author has written. Definitely a different take on a heroes and villains story.

This was an extremely mind-bending, romantic and deep book and every time I put it down, I found myself thinking about the last parts that I read and how it all fitted, what was to come next and the impossibility of the ending that I wanted to happen. The sure sign of a great book is that it doesn't leave your thoughts in a hurry.
I'm hoping that I find this book in every multiverse as It is a definite winner!
I found that some of the words and scientific theories went way above my head but the way it was written made that part null and void as you were always able to read on and experience the next sentence and idea and get lost in the plot again.
Some parts were a little slow but overall, the book called for different  paces for different parts.

An action packed explosion of mystery, witty banter, maids who won't do as they are told, disgruntled dogs, coffins thrown into the Thames and all the Countesses, Dukes, Barons and Lords that you can poke a stick at!

What a gem of a book! It had me laughing and tearing up, smiling widely and furious with anger. All of the feels come out to play.

Ava January writes so smoothly and flawlessly that I never wanted to put it down. I heard the audiobook of this novel and think the narrators did an amazing job! The research done was spot on for the timeframe and the characters were such a mixed bunch from the lovely to the savage, the murderous to the innocent, the foul to the cheekiest.

Countess Dagga charms and delights those she comes into contact with, unless she foils your dastardly plans and you end up hunting her down, or you take her services but don't pay your way. Such a fun character and I really really hope that this is the first book in a series rather than a stand alone book. Sign me up for anything that Ava January has written or any future books! I loved it!

I was very excited about reading this book as I love all things puzzling. I started to read and found that there were 3 main types, phrases that had vowels removed, jumbled up letters etc I did solve quite a few and thought it was an interesting mix of quotes from different people and by the author. I thought though. that with the hype of there being linguistic intrigue, a quest for the ultimate truth and facts traversing the expansive landscapes of psychology, that there might be a bit more to it than 495 pages of quotes in the three different styles.

I like the authors sense of humour and wish him well. I wondered if, going by the puzzles of the book, his name may me Leslie Blackbird?

I thank the author and LibraryThing for the opportunity to read and review this title.
