Firstly, thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
I was really looking forward to this one, I loved the premise of the story and the whole Chinese mythology tie-ins, but unfortunately, it just fell a little bit flat. It started out really strong but as the book progressed it felt more and more rushed, like there were too many ideas trying to be rammed into one book. The ending was super rushed and ended up being a little confusing. I also felt like I couldn’t really connect with the characters.
I just struggled to find the motivation to keep picking this up and therefore it took me ages to get to the end.
Over all - 2.5 stars.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.

Unfortunate DNF for me, and I was really looking forward to this one too😭 15% in and I couldn't stand the amount of time it was brought up that Hazel has curves. Things like that immediately turn me off a book, it feels forced, like they only choose to write about a chef/foodie relationship to have an excuse to have a curvy mc? Curvy girls can be represented without having to mention they love food!!
Maybe it gets better, I dunno.. Judging by the other reviews it's a pretty well enjoyed book, but it just wasn't for me.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
Rated 2 stars, because whilst I didn't personally enjoy the book, the idea was cute!

Oh I really enjoyed this one, which was a huge surprise to me because second chance romances are jot my usual go-to. But again, Jessica Joyce just knows how to write a good, enticing, heartfelt book!
Eli, the paper rings? Such a sweetheart. Georgia, the constant need to fix things and be there for your people so they don't leave you behind, is such a relatable characteristic for me.
I loved all of the characters, even the side characters were so relatable! The friend group they had was so heart warming. I had to laugh at all the things that went wrong for the wedding though, I think I'd start believing I was cursed after all of that!
5 stars, 10/10, highly recommend.
