I was really trying to give this one a chance but then when they finally got to the murder mystery part, 2 characters just wouldn't shut up, talking in circles about a game but saying nothing, all the while there's an entire cast of people just....doing fuck all in the BG... I just got annoyed.
I am having so many feelings about this book. All good feels, but feels nonetheless. Not only is it such a good conclusion for the main pair, there's so many thought provoking instances that even if you've suffered, even if times are hard, it's never too late to aim for happiness.
If you've been reading the series up to this point, i guarantee you will not be disappointed with the ending. They get their happily ever after.
As nice and edgy as I wanted this book to be, there was that over saturated obsession of the MC with his dick. It was less smutty and more crass. I lost interest in the MC pretty quickly because of it.
This book is about villains who do horrible things and there is nothing redeeming about them. It is INCREDIBLELY written and I loved every second of it! The art, the characters, the excessive detail with gore. This is a 100% dark story with beautiful monsters.
It is a very sweet book to read! The two protagonists are so lovely in how they converse with each other and THE MUTUAL PINING has one wanting to keep turning every page.
Everything is so charming and I highly recommend this title for those looking to read about a very sweet, realistic romantic growth between a vampire and a human. It's *chef's kiss*!!
With the foundations of the first book, Luck in the Shadows, set, Stalking Darkness just ramped up the excitement levels! It's witty, sad, and full of self discovery with a touch of dealing with inner turmoil and pasts catching up.
I loved following the characters through on their individual journey's in this book this time around as the first one had them working all together a lot. I got to see into their individual minds a little better and just came out on the other end loving them all even more.
There are still so many questions unanswered at the close of the book but I am eager to move onto book 3!
If you are looking for a slow burn romance filled with adventure, tension, with lighthearted comrades who banter lovingly, then definitely read this book! The gentle nature all characters have towards each other is something that still seems to be rare in most books that have a group of men center stage and is very refreshing to have characters that actually apologize for their behaviors.
There is no actual romance in this first book, which works well with how events unfold but the relationship feels genuine. More of an allies to lovers slow burn, if you will.
Strong women, wives, soldiers and queens are constant through the entire book and continue to be constant points of power which was also refreshing as most of the time there is a token "strong woman" but in here there are many.
Overall, an easy story to get into with loveable and likeable characters, magic, conspiracies, and found family, oh and very lgbtq+ friendly!
