“I could not look at the setting sun without tears. . that in my hatred for the men of our earth there was always a yearning anguish: why could I not hate them without loving them? why could I not help forgiving them? and in my love for them there was a yearning grief: why could I not love them without hating them?“

HOLY FUCK I GET TRISTAN-MORANA HYPE I REALLY DO. And I am surprised the writing wasn’t cringe as fuck at all. Recommended for anyone looking for a well-written short story with thrilling action, mystery plot, funny banter and bickering between the main charas AND OOF THE SEXUAL TENSION IS OVER THE ROOF!

I've read it more than 3 times when I was a kid. It isn't anything special ig but it holds special place in my heart. As a kid, I was fascinated reading this book and my heart ached for Tomas and Fernanda. The last chapter made the little me cry so much.

It is important to know that this novel is based on real life incident and is more about domestic abuse, taking decisions rather than just romance.. Maybe most can't relate but some can. And you can't invalidate the experience of one woman because it doesn't match with your concept of how domestic violence occurs. And this should be kept in mind while shit-talking about this novel just because it doesn't fit your narrow concept.

I enjoyed reading this novel. When Lily's mom finally opened up and started talking about her past, it broke my heart. When Lily took the right decision and left that douchebag, I felt proud of her. I was rooting for Atlas since the beginning so obviously, I was clapping while reading the epilogue. The writing isn't the best imo but CoHo delivered the message she wanted to. What I liked about the novel is the way it is shown how negatively a child growing up in abusive household is affected. The trauma is real and fuck men like Lily's dad and Ryle Kincaid.

Angst written for the sake of angst sure is a turn off and makes the angst boring.
Meatbun’s writing is beautiful but it feels too much dragged later. I was re-reading yuwu first few chapters and as I recalled the entire plot, I realized how terrible the plot execution is as the author tries to insert every idea she had for the novel, introduces characters and new plots messily. Moreover, I read this before 2ha and while I was reading 2ha.. there were many similarities. And no, it isn’t because they share same universe.

All I can say is I cried and CoHo’s writing has improved by miles since Ugly Love.
