Most of the information was out of date, but I enjoyed reading through the natural aquarium models created for the book.

I wouldn't have finished it if it hadn't been read by Ian Mckellan. He was a wonderful narrator.

Not as great as the first one (more predictable, more preachy, less novel), but it's a relatively quick read. I did care about the characters and the plot.

I think I officially dislike this series.

I feel like Leon and Max have an unhealthy relationship. And I don't like reading about sex, even as vague as it is in these books. I just don't like Farrell.Moderate: Sexual assault, Violence, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Sexual violence, Miscarriage, and Murder

So much gender, orientation, and relationship structure representation withOUT actual sex scenes (not my thing, personal preference not a judgement)!!! A wonderful ship and crew. Loved that.
The book read like a season of an episodic (with a season-long arc incorporated) sci-fi television. I don't know if that's a good thing as a book or not, but I'd LOVE to watch that show. And now I'm excited to read the tenuously-related Season 2.
