was really interesting and informative. At times I found the narration annoying - sort of repetitive and simplistic when i would rather things remained more nuanced but overall I learnt a lot about the different types of Islam which I am grateful for
I was also a bit skeptical of his conclusion about the British empire doing more good than bad…

found the beginning very boring until she met Mitsutsuka. also just generally didn’t connect with the main character, i almost felt like i was going to love her at the end but the ending fell flat for me after a big build up. did cry at the end tho so obvs did something
