Can't believe I get to say this but the book is even weirder than the podcast. The story was good but in a very welcome to night vale fashion the ending was...well it feels like it was sort of rushed and skipped and the mystery never really explained. Which yes that is the WTNV way but when you spend 400 pages reading about trying to solve a mystery it feels anticlimatic and dissastisfactory when that mystery isn't really solved. Idk like I enjoyed it a lot but the end left me with a sort of *shrug* feeling.

I think I liked this one better than the first one. Theo's writing has improved even if I still find it a bit overdramatic and a bit unrealistic. But then they're teenagers so I get it. I like a theme of abuse and trauma and sacrifice so this was kinda right up my alley. I think I'd prefer it to be a bit more complex. Everything was too black and white for my taste I think

There isn't really a lot of czech lgbtq+ books so I really appreciate Theo for writing it. However I must say this is not very good. The entire book felt like it was written in Britain and then translated to Czech. Nothing about it felt czech. The story felt sometimes overdramatized. The two main characters felt too good at communication for two 16 year olds. It didn't felt real. On the other hand it was an easy read that pulled me in and I finished the book in a day.

Vacation read #3
I didn't expect much from this. My friend gave it to me saying she didn't even finish it. But I ended up actually really liking it. I liked the premise of it, i loved the snippets of their relationship. I didn't quite understand why Neal would stay with Georgie all these years but that's what love is. It's unexplainable. Also i hated Seth. Like i didn't understand why Georgie was best friends with him and he just seemed like kind of an asshole. Also I'd love to see a part 2 to this where we'd see Georgie and Neal actually working through their issues. But overall i did love how soft the book made me feel. The love i felt from Georgie towards Neal. It even made me cry a bit a few times there.

Vacation book #2
I'm trying to finish off books I've owned for more than a decade but never actually read.
Honestly i just didn't vibe with it. I found the main character creepy and I'm really over these love at first sight stories. Especially when it's not followed by "and now we have to actually work on our relationshil" but is rather the "love at first sight will make me ignore all the 🚩🚩🚩"
I get that this is rainbow's first book but jeez I'd rather not

First finished vacation read!
I wil lsay I'm not much of a crime thriller reader. It's not really my thing.
However the first 3/4 of the book were great. I enjoyed the switching between now and then. I thought the three narrators had all distinct voices. Ben was so beautifully stupid and teenagery. I occasionally found it funny even.
But I gotta be honest the ending really disappointed me. After all this build up I expected a bit more. It felt like the resolution/reveal came out of nowhere and it was all tied up with a bow all too neatly in my honest opinion. Like it was such a let down after such a build up.

It feels poignant to be finishing this book at the police station.

Even after everything Russian regime is doing in Ukraine i am still surprised at the level of cartoon evil it manages to be. Evil laboratories that work exclusively on the most deadly poisons ane then agents that poison people with it all over the world. That's some superman villain plot or some shit no?
No but for real I've known about the work that bellingcat has been doing for a while. But it's still nice to see how such an organisation nei a whole new field  came to be. I have friends from places like Yemen, Ukraine, Palestine, Iran and Russia and i see their desperation of the state of affair in their countries. Hopefully OSINT and organisation like Bellingcat will move the world towards better and quicker justice in the world.

I was listening to the audio/radio version and got chills the entire time. Wish this was translated to other languages 'cause the way it walks you through the entire 11 years - maidan, crimea, donbas, zelensky's election and of course the beginning of the fullscale invasion and it's all told through personal recounting so it's easily understood and you understand what changes the nation and it's people went through in the last decade. It's an excellent book, wondefully told if i do say so myself

After the last book I low key hated I kinda needed something to fix my reading mood so I grabbed this (lol reading this while the coronation of a new british king was happening was lowkey funny). It's lighthearted fun. I don't feel i will be obsessed with it like the others. Will not think it to be top 10 best lgbt books or anything. The comparisons to Young Royals now feel a bit insulting to young royals since I feel like they've been handling the topic better. Like it's clearly a book that's written in reaction to 2016 election. If it was straight I would call it trashy romance book but of course because it's gay that's a level that elevates it.  I enjoyed it a lot but just don't consider it some great quality of writing.
In any case it did it's job. It did what it was supposed to do
