entertaining read that kept me hooked for the most part. while the second half had its fair share of thrilling moments, the ending took the easy way out imo… june should’ve gotten her ass handed to her on a platter for being the absolute worst

chloe's pen game ran out with this one i fear ...while i liked these violent delights the qualms i had with that book were overly magnified with this one. i didn't care for the rehashed monster plot, there were severe pacing issues and i felt like the politics were handled with a hefty hand this time around.

want to revisit chloe's work when her writing becomes a bit more fine-tuned and nuanced bc she's mass producing books left right and centre as a victim of the booktok author curse. i do see potential in her though and nevertheless i will always be an avid supporter of asian led YA stories!!!

*laughs nervously* what the fuck

i see what this book was trying to do but it also came across as very pseudofeminist. samantha is just straight up a terrible mc. but it was also very valid in that somehow everybody’s tertiary education experience involves a run-in with a cult or cult adjacent group… be careful out there queens

can't believe they made tolerate it by taylor swift into a book</3

so timeless, so beautiful, so haunting !!! a masterclass in lyrical prose, building atmosphere + creating an immersive world with realistic and believable characters. the choice to keep the protagonist unnamed was TOO GOOD !! hate how much i resonated with a lot of her ways of thinking .. i think we've all fallen in love with somebody who is intellectually and physically much older and wiser... and rebecca was no doubt evil maniacal and manipulative and yet i still felt for her and wanted to care about her. daphne du maurier is easily one of my top female authors of all time with this book

if you read jacqueline wilson books as a child i think you’ll love this…the vibe is very tongue in cheek while dealing with dark yet important issues. the execution of the plot and the messages it was trying to convey was a little inconsistent for me but i much enjoyed the exploration of elizabeth’s identity and relationship with calvin, madeline, harriet etc. elizabeth zott you will always be famous<3
