I just finished this book and I honestly really enjoyed it. The author did a good job of building the world and the characters in it. While part of me wishes it was a stand alone novel but as I sit here and think more on it I hope in the next book they reveal more about Lark’s life and motivations. The way I took Lark’s character in the beginning was this charismatic funny guy who had to take this job in order to provide for his family. He was good at it but not something he truly wanted but by the end of the book I realized he’s just a mini Dufart in training. He wants power and I have to wonder would he kill Ransom, Nadia or his family the moment they got in his way. In his last moments we see a hint of that he doesn’t want Sera to be a problem for him down the line and ruin his business but he also doesn’t was Ransom to become too emotionally tied to her like Dufart was to Sera and her mother. And I know he’s dead now but I really want Ransom to really think about how his friends aren’t who they appear to be. He got some of that in this novel but I want to see it marinate in the next one as he’s alone trying to run the Daggers. I have so many more thought but I need to stop this review is becoming too long and more like a think piece haha

As much as I enjoyed this book the author is still a horrible person. This book was lent to me otherwise I wouldn’t have read it and I highly encourage everyone to avoid giving him any of your money. I hope his victims get the justice they deserve and Neil steps on a pile of Lego’s.
