Finally, Conrad!! I hate that we get this whole story about her and Jere in what is supposed to be Connie's book. Can't wait to see some of these scenes on the live screen, though.

More happens than the first book! This one felt more like the show, except the aunt and uncle don't exist. It's also placed further into summer, so it makes Belly's actions a little easier to swallow. Everybody except Belly is still a wisp of a person; even in the chapters from Jeremiah's perspective, he pretty much only talks about Belly! Stephen is completely absent, and Taylor is Even Worse than the last book, somehow.

If I hadn't watched the show first, I wouldn't have finished this book. I can see why they changed so much for the show, because this book is so much inside Belly's head, it feels a little bit like nothing actually happens.

The author kept describing the main antagonist as "hysterically giggling" during moments where he was supposed to be threatening. Couldn't get past that.

The writing was just kind of clunky, and I felt that the author wasn't giving me enough context for Lucy and Christopher's situation when they were first introduced. I get teasing out bits of backstory as a device, but I kept feeling like I must have missed important info on an earlier page.
