আমি সিরাজের বেগম by Sree Parabat

 বই দেখলাম কারো বেশ ভাল লেগেছে কারো কারো যাচ্ছেতাই। আমি এত ভাল ভাল আর গবেষণানির্ভর ঐতিহাসিক ফিকশন পড়েছি যে এটা সেই মাপে একদম নবীশ লাগলো। কোন বইয়ের বা কিছুর তালিকাও পেলাম না বইয়ের শুরুতে বা শেষে যাতে ফিকশনের কোন তথ্যগুলো সত্য, কোনগুলো কল্পনার হোলিতে রঙিন বোঝা যেত খানিকটা। তাই যারা পড়ছে তাদের কাছে অনুরোধ ফিকশন এবং সত্যের মাঝের রেখাটা ধরবার চেষ্টা করলে ভাল হয়। নাহলে কিন্তু বিপদ!

Liane Moriarty has always been such a comforting and exciting read for me. but this one held some general questions as I progressed with the chapters and lacked quite some depth. The story is about a family where suddenly the mother goes missing leaving behind a nonsensical message.  The family has 4 adult children who have their struggles and story going on. However, we failed to reach the core of their struggles or fail to explore their relationship with their mother. In other words, we do see their relationship with their father who is a prime suspect in his wife's missing status. The thing that baffled me is there is a suspicious character, a girl who is involved in the background story before the wife went missing. She is a stranger who stayed with the old couple for quite some days and is not in a good position with the children. However, after the wife goes missing for over 15 days or so, nobody cares to contact her.

There was real potential if we could see more alternate PoVs of the old couple and get a chance to be invested in their relationship and feelings to relate with the ending. It's like the story was throwing the ball real high but failing to catch it on time.....almost every time. 

It's a 2.5 star for me.

 If your kid loves Peppa Pigs and is in the process of learning reading then this series is a must-read. My daughter almost read it by herself. I think I am going to read more of it in the future. If your kid has already learned 150 words (sighting) then he/she can read most of it. Also, it is enjoyable and a perfect bedtime read for any Peppa lovers.

হুট করেই বইটা হাতে এসেছে। না জেনে শুনে নতুন লেখকের লেখা পড়তে বসলাম গতকালকে। মিশর নিয়ে একটা ধুকপুকানি আজীবনই সঙ্গী হয়ে আছে। কদিন আগে আবার এক বন্ধু পিরামিডের দেশে ঘুরে এসেছে। ফেসবুকে তার ছবির দিকে জুলজুল করে তাকিয়ে ছিলাম বেশ অনেকক্ষণ। তাই বুঝি নাম আর প্রচ্ছদ দেখেই হাতে তুলে নিয়েছিলাম এই বইখানা।
তা এমন লেখা এর আগে উইল্বার স্মিথ ছাড়া আর কারো পড়িনি তেমন। মানে তুলনাটা জমলোনা ঠিক। যা বুঝাতে চাচ্ছি তাও ঠিকমতো বুঝাতে পারছি কই। তবে গল্পের গরু গাছে না তুলে লোকগল্প, ধর্ম, কল্পনা আর বিজ্ঞান এর য সালাদ হয়েছে তা চাখতে বেশ ভাল লাগে।

এ গল্পের মূল নায়ক নায়িকাকে আপনারা চেনেন বোধয়। ঋষি অগ্যস্ত আর তার স্ত্রী লোপামুদ্রাকে তো হিন্দু পূরাণ থেকেই চিনবার কথা। এটুকু পড়ে ভাবছেন যাচ্ছিলাম মিশর আর থামলাম এসে ভারতবর্ষে? এখানেই তো কারসাজি। তা এ গল্পে বিজ্ঞানের নব নব আবিষ্কার আছে, দুর্গম পথে যাত্রা আছে, বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা, হত্যা, রহস্য, ফারাও, নীলনদ সব আছে আর আছে এক্টুখানি ভারতের ইতিহাসের ছোঁয়া। মন্দ নয়।

 এই বয়সে এসে (এহহ! মনে হচ্ছে কত না বুড়ি হয়ে গেলাম আমি) লেখকরা যদি পড়াশোনা করে বই না লিখেন তাহলে খুব খারাপ লাগে। রবিন জামান খানের ইতিহাসনির্ভর ফিকশন পড়তে গেলে এই বিরক্তি বা মন খারাপ থেকে মুক্ত থাকতে পারি এটা একটু স্বস্তিদায়ক ব্যাপার। এর আগে লেখকের ২৫ শে মার্চ পড়েছিলাম। কাহিনী মনে নেই বেশি, কিন্তু খুব ভাল লেগেছিল। ঐ সময়টায় বোধয় অত ঐতিহাসিক থ্রিলার লেখা শুরুও হয়নি। এই বইটি পড়েও খুব আরাম পেলাম। শুধু এই সময়ের প্রটাগনিস্ট এর অতীতে লেখক এত কম জোর দিলেন কেন? এই একটা প্রশ্ন বাদে বাকি সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর পেয়েছি ভালমতোই। ২০২৪ এর প্রথম পড়ে শেষ করা বইটা যে ৫ তারা পেল- এও কি কম শান্তির?

ঠগী নিয়ে এর আগে খুব অল্প পড়েছি। যা পড়েছি মনে হচ্ছে সেখানে ঠগীদের নিত্যজীবনের ব্যবহৃত শব্দ, আচার নিয়ে সহজ করে লিখেনি। এই বইটি ফিকশন হলেও লেখকের রিসার্চ সাহায্য করেছে যা আগে বুঝতে পারিনি তা বুঝতে। আর সবচেয়ে ভাল লেগেছে নন ফিকশন জগতের উইলিয়াম হেনরি স্লিম্যান বা থাগী স্লিম্যান কে ফিকশনের জগতে উপস্থাপন করবার বিষয়টা। আনন্দের কথা এই সিরিজে বিভিন্ন টাইমলাইনের উপর আরও বই সামনে আসছে। সেগুলো পড়বার জন্য এখন অধীর আগ্রহে বসে থাকবো।
