Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah
5.0
I listen to Trevor Noah’s book on audible! I recommend this book to so many people. I also have the hard copy, but I suggest you listen to him because it makes his story even better!
Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson
4.0
First book of 2022! Fictional story, but a heartbreaking reality. I enjoyed the story, but I felt like it didn’t have to be over 400 pages. I like Tiffany D. Jackson’s writing style and I plan on reading more of her books.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
4.0
I wanted to see what all the hype was about with Evelyn Hugo. The book had me locked in from the first couple of pages. I love the characters! The ending was kind of questionable though. I felt like I wanted a little more explanation with the end. Just me, but I liked it.
The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers
5.0
The Love Songs of W. E. B. Dubois by Dr. Honoree Fanonne Jeffers was 800+ pages long, so I decided to listen to it on audible instead of carrying around the big book. That was the best decision, even for someone who loves the physical copy. I am considering doing my first book vlog on this book because it has so much information. I had a lot of connections throughout the story, from the Southern Traditions, Dubois and Booker T Washington's disagreements, to the understanding of Double Consciousness. While reading this book, I thought about my ancestors and my feelings about being black in America. The fantastic way that Dr. Jeffers connected The Songs with the storyline was beautiful, and how the words from The Songs sounded almost like a poetic song. I want to read more books by Dr. Jeffers, who has written a lot of poetry.
Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson
4.0
Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson is the second book I have read by Tiffany D. Jackson this year. The story was hard to absorb, but I finished it. We need more stories like Enchanted’s story. I found myself having a hard time picking it up to finish because it made me feel uneasy, not because it wasn't good. I have read that many people are comparing it to other real stories from the music industry, but I don't think Jackson is based it on any actual true story.
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

I gave this book four stars because of how he developed the characters. I was skeptical of reading it because it can be tricky getting through Historical Fiction. I enjoyed it and will be reading some more of his works.
