This book is delightful. Parts are laugh-out-loud funny, and others had me in tears. I listened to this book on audible and love the audio adaptation made. Couldn't recommend it more.

it's a gripping story, but I didn't particularly enjoy the diary format. I understand that a biography must have elements of subjective narrative, but with a topic so incredibly dark I don't think the format carries its weight.

I forgot I'd bought this one on audible once before. the narrator there is terribad. I want to read (listen to) the book, but I can't.

I had no expectations on this book, but I don't think I'm in the right frame of mind for a slow bake period piece right now.

I'm honestly not sure what I think of the story. The movie was pretty boring, so I thought I'd give the audiobook a try, largely because I always enjoy Simon Vance's unparalleled performance.
The book isn't quite as dull as the movie, but the character of the Doctor is so fundamentally unlikeable and judgemental that I don't trust him as the narrator. His objectives are questionable at best, malicious at worst -
but we never know either way
.
So I did enjoy the book, I suppose. But it's not one I'll ever read again.
