Riches to Riches: Part Two by Ames Mills

34 hours of the 2 audiobooks later, I can say that the first duet in the Abbs Valley series felt a bit too long.
The writing is solid, but at times the story lacks depth.
We now have six boyfriends, which is a bit overwhelming and unnecessary, to me. It disrupted the dynamic. I flet that the development of the male characters were rushed or left down because no more room for them (literally and figuratively).
While the smut is definitely well written (everyone is magically bi and in love in a blink of an eye), I found myself missing the focus on the plot.
However, it’s important to remember this is just the first duet, and the writing is still evolving. I’m confident it will improve from here! 😍

Ames Mills is the queen of smut and fluffy moving LGBT romance.
To me, in this book, the story and spice are not quite well-balanced due to this girl's stamina.
Les is a mafia boss at 25. She is a real ice queen, a strong & powerful character and a vagina in concrete. It's a RH with 5 guys: Ryder (her long term friend and bodyguard), Dex (former lover also her bodyguard), Gage (the hilarious and flirty man), Holden (the geeky one) and Leo (her current sweet lover).
It can throw you out of balance, but if you are warned, you won't be surprised because it's very well written anyway.
The story comes to an end with an astonishing cliffhanger.

Tropes:
- Mafia (italian / russian)
- Serial unaliver FMC (because men are trash)
- found family
- Polyamory (MMFMMM)

The audiobook is narrated by Ada Sinclair and Patrick Zeller (who is doing an amazing job with 7/8 different males voices).

This is an absolute page-turner and the audiobook is great, with Victoria Connolly and Patrick Zeller doing an awesome job on the dual narration. They really bring the story to life!

This billionaire workplace romance has all the right tropes—enemies-to-lovers, secret relationships, and a MMC bent on revenge.
The chemistry between Holden and Rowan is electric, and the tension kept me hooked throughout.
I hated Rhett and Chad as much as they both did.

Chapter 51 was a highlight: Rowan is a queen in disguise and that chapter was brilliant!

The cliffhanger ending left me craving more! If you love high-stakes romance with twist and turn, a damaged MMC and a fierce FMC, this story won’t disappoint. I can’t wait for the second book.

Tropes:
Billionaire
Workplace romance
Secret relationship
Enemies to lovers
Tortured hero
Seeking for Revenge
Cliffhanger
Spice 🌶️🌶️.5

Once again, I had the privilege to receive an ARC of K. Bromberg’s book. Funny enough, I had already bought the audiobook before finding out, which just goes to show how much of a hit this book really is!
Obviously this is my honest review.

Clearly, the story of the healing journey of Conor is a massacre for your eyes.
This is so wrong in so many way.

The alpha male toxicity is at his highest: mansplaning, gaslighting, treating the FMC like a child.
She’s been raped at 16. Isolated. Lost her brother in prison. Betrayed by her lover after 2 years. Beaten by her dad. But it’s ok she can deal with it because men are taking care of the business. I mean. Come on.
The MMC does the worst of the worst to treat her PTSD and miraculously it works. There is NO WAY anything could have worked, except reinforcing the trauma.
The “dom” vibes is creepy and weird because it’s part of the “therapy”.

That was bad and infuriating.
Please read the TW, before trying to read this.
But I would recommend you to not waste your time and choose something else to read.

The audiobook is Tara Langella, Erin Quinn, Brooke Daniels, Michelle Sparks and Troy Duran (and his irish accent 🫠)

The last couple in the series is Rey, the Famous italian black widow and Spider/Quinn (the second in command of Declan - book 2 of the series.
I am a real sucker for a badass FMC with a venomous tongue and creative death threats.

The only thing that bothers me is a spoiler so…
I understand that 2 mains characters over 30 (33 and 38 to be precise) wants children but talking about it repetitively for few chapters, was annoying. Since there is no pregnancy until the very end in the epilogue.

Tropes
Mafia
Survivor (Domestic abuse)
Arranged Marriage
Slow burn
Enemies with benefits 🥵
Banter (and the mother is hilarious)
That. Man. Mouth.

the audio is narrated by Michelle Sparks and Matt Walton in duet narration.

I liked the time loop trope; it feels like déjà vu, yet still manages to be original.
In the end, the only issue I had with this book it’s the high school situation. Calix, Raz, Barron, and Karma have strong, distinct,well-developed personalities, but it doesn’t quite fit within the story.

This story is literally “borderline”.
It pushes every boundary of dark romance.
Let me explain why it’s a 4.5⭐️ for me, and why you’ll either love it or decide to DNF.

From start to finish, you’re kept on your toes, gathering small pieces of information bit by bit. Every chapter ends with a cliffhanger.
The story is written backwards and you will only fully understand what has been going on until the last 10%

You feel Petal’s pain, you empathize with her. You experience her amnesia alongside her—what happened to her? Why did she lose her memory?
And who is J? Why is he so twisted, with such really disturbing behavior and actions?

It’s darker than dark. The spice is also intense, as it mainly involves dubious consent with humiliation and degradation.
Be fully aware of this before deciding to read

Tropes:
- Amnesia
- Emotionally broken FMC
- Forced proximity
- Kidnapping
- Stalking
- Thriller, suspense (serial killer)
- age gap taboo (7 years and he began to be obsessed with her while she was a teen but doesn’t act on any thing).

TW
- Dubious consent, BDSM
- Stockholm syndrome
- manipulation / gaslighting

I had the privilege to receive this book as an arc. This is my honest review :)

Do you enjoy the best friends to lovers to enemies trope?
Intrigued by a secret society of assassins?
Craving a gripping story with the sweetest male main character?
Look no further. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

I love Cricket and Lance’s story. First and foremost because Cricket is an absolute badass, who struggled so much and came back 10 times stronger.

And Lance. Well.
It’s the kind of MMC who wants to marry you because you’re his endgame. He also wants to marry you on his mom's birth date because it would have made her happy. He wants you to be safe and to put back together all your broken pieces.
How am I supposed to move on with my life knowing that Lance is not real?

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

While it’s not necessary to read The Whistleblower (1rst book), I advise you to do it because I could tell you after “yeah it’s that good. I told you so”. 😉

I really loved the story of Eden and Linc.
She is a whistleblower who is harrassed by the corporation she denonced.
He is a cold unaliver for a secret society.
But he is the sweetest of the sweetest guy under his scowling attitude…
He made me melt so many times…

The story and the plot are easy and very entertaining.

Loving the Liar by Lola King

That's what will happen to you with the story of Chris and Ella.
You'll be furious.
You'll be heartbroken.
You'll be smitten.
You'll throw your feminism out the window.
And then, you'll be furious, heartbroken, smitten, and throwing everything—yourself, Chris, and Ella included.
Over and over again until the very end.

When Lola writes, she takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. During the ride, you're dizzy and want it to stop, but when it's over, you immediately want to go back on.

Tropes:
- Brother’s Best Friend
- Boy obsessed with a pearl
- Secret society
- Touch her and lose a knee vibes
- Dirty little secret
- spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

My sweet spot: evry chapter “I love you”

The main TW:
- Self harm
- Body dismorphia
- Abusive relationship
- Gaslighting
- Anxiety
- Cheating
- Degradation
- Daddy kink (not a fan, it doesn’t make sens to me for MCs who are under 25 - so not a 5⭐️ for that part)
- Murder
