This book was heartbreaking and heart broken. Beautiful, honest prose.

I did appreciate that the female main character did not have to choose between being herself and her love interest. The author avoided this trope in a deft way.

This book has a great premise and by the end the world was a little more clear. This is very much a debut novel. I really enjoyed it more about half way through - I feel like like the characters had developed more at that point.

I really enjoyed this book that takes place pre smart phones. It was quirjy and tough and interesting. I think any woman who has struggled with identity will see themselves in parts of the main character's story. And I think that is really hopeful.

This book was challenging in the best way. Not going to lie, it hits a little close to home as someone who works in marketing.
I finished this a few days ago and keep coming back to the questions the book posted about morality, city, country, and religion.
This wasn't a light read AND I already recommended this to my whole group. We all need to think more deeply about the work we live in.

I couldn't put this down and read it in one sitting. I recently listened to an interesting podcast series on European witch trials, which made this even more interesting. I found myself invested in Kate, Violet, and Altha despite the prickly parts of their characters. The writing was vivid and compelling.
