I thought the overall story was really interesting and the world building was good.

However. I wanted to drop Maddek in a drepa nest and leave him to suffer. He was obnoxious, dense, and just a plain idiot. Constantly with the, "How dare you lie to me, but I won't believe anything you say so I'll threaten you with physical violence when you talk about something I don't like" refrain through the whole book. Then being shocked when not told something, because the teller doesn't trust him.

And if I never hear the phrase "ease your pleasure upon me" again it will be too soon.
