It did what it set out to do and managed to not romanticize pedophilia. Some of the writing was very pretty but I personally despise stream of consciousness as a style so 85% of this book was nearly unreadable for me. It would've benefited from being about 150 pages shorter. At the halfway point I found myself think "okay, I get it, can we do something else now?"

Do not be discouraged by this book's relatively low average rating. If you love Robin Hobb's slow pacing, dragon lore and heavy character focus, you will probably love this. Or so my experience was.

This is a worse and more racist copy of White Fang. If you read that book I don't think you need to waste your time on this one. But hey, at least the writing was passable and it was very short.

This was undoubtedly one of the most emotional reading experiences I've ever had.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
The writing was poor to a distracting degree
