I liked how this book delved into toxic family relationships. It was really well done. The relationship was not my favourite; it's probably because I'm a sucker for slow burns where they get together around the 80-90% mark. If you like lighthearted romances that are a bit cheesy and corny, this book is right up your alley!

Malini and Priya were a joy to read, however, I'm still not sure if I liked them together.
The multiple POVs were a major downfall; it made the book so unnecessarily long and the characters introduced weren't even important.
Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it, and I am looking forward to the sequel :)

My fav book in the series so far <3
I love how Persassy was prevalent for the majority of this book. His witty comments made it all the more fun to read. ALSO THERE'S A LOT OF PERCABETH MOMENTS. So if you're an avid shipper, this might be the novel for you 😳
I just didn't love the weird love triangle thingy likeee why? :// And despite the intriguing premise, this one didn't live up to my expectations. If you're looking for more action/adventure, I'd recommend the third installation of this series, The Titan's Curse.
Despite the flaws, this was good, great even. Reading it on my deck was fun :))

Giving this less than 3 stars would be downright disrespectful.
This memoir is about Eliezer Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust. This book gets into some gritty details, concerning events that happened before, during, and after Elie got sent to a concentration camp. It's sad, it's depressing, it's necessary. Would recommend to everyone to read this at least once in their lifetime.

This right here is one of the most iconic manga in existence (imo, of course.) I'm very, very passionate about this series so this will be a long one. 😅 This holds a special place in my heart; I loved the anime (at least to the point where I've watched it). That being said, I remember I did not love the first 10 episodes, and this is the same in the manga as well.
Volume 1 has 9 chapters, or "files." Here's a brief rundown. (All will be in spoiler territory so you can skip if you want to.)
Chapter 0001
After a famous high school detective (Shinichi Kudo) solves another case, he then goes to an amusement park with his childhood best friend (Ran Mouri) *ahem* love interest *ahem.* In the park, he solves another brutal murder involving a decapitated head. Afterwards, he follows some men in black, gets caught, and is force-fed a drug. The drug has one big side effect: you turn into the body of a child.
Chapter 0002
Ran gets worried, so she goes to Shinichi's house, and then goes to his neighbour's (Professor Agasa) house, where she meets a 6-year-old boy who looks eerily similar to Shinichi Kudo. He's Edogawa Conan, of course. Agasa thinks it would be good for Conan to live with Ran because her dad is a detective (Kogoro Mouri), and he might have some info about the men in black.
Chapter 0003
Kogoro has a case; a wealthy businessman's daughter has been kidnapped. When Conan and the rest go to the crime scene, Conan quickly realizes that this case is not so straightforward.
Chapter 0004
The butler confessed to the kidnapping of the daughter, but why is there still a man trying to blackmail the businessman? Conan has to find out, and quickly too before time runs out.
Chapter 0005
Conan found the real perpetrator, but it can't be so simple; he can't fight against a grown man anymore because of his stature. Fortunately, the Mouri family is there (mainly Ran 'cause Kogoro is an incompetent little shi-) When the case is solved, Kogoro gets all the credit.
Chapter 0006
Conan asks Agasa to make gadgets for him so that he can fight head-to-head against adults. Later on in the day, a famous singer (Yoko Okino) asks for Korogo's help. She has a stalker. But once again, nothing is as it seems to be when a man ends up dead in Yoko's home.
Chapter 0007
The Idol Case continues. The prime suspects are Yoko, her manager, and the other singer/actress who has a grudge against Yoko. They're all pretty sus...
Chapter 0008
More revelations come up. Yoko's stalker was the woman who has a grudge against Yoko, and the murdered man was Yoko's boyfriend in high school. After a while, Conan solves the case, however, he has another problem: making the adults listen to him as a 6-year-old child.
Chapter 0009
To combat his inability to make everyone take him seriously, Conan knocks out Kogoro and uses one of Professor Agasa's gadgets, the voice-changing bowtie, to impersonate Kogoro. He solves the death, determining it as a suicide. Right at the end of the chapter, Conan calls Ran as Shinichi and promises to be back soon. (1000+ chapters later...)
So, why did I not like this Volume? It's actually very simple. The main component of this whole series is the mystery and the crime-solving aspect. I found the cases in this volume were lackluster, which made my reading experience significantly worse. I'll admit, I have a bit of a bias. I know what's coming up in later chapters, so I can't help but feel disappointed that these files were not nearly half as good as the later cases. The second case in the first chapter was absolute dogshit if I'm being honest. I find it really hard to believe that anyone can slip out of their seat, stand on an extremely fast roller coaster without falling, tie a wire over a person's neck, and sit back down all in a matter of seconds. Not to mention that the murderer's motive was fucking stupid. It was really anticlimactic and I was disheartened that this was the actual first case that we see from start to finish.
I also do not like Shinichi when he's an arrogant prick, and unfortunately, we see that in all its glory here. He has some character development so I'm not worried that he'll stay like this, but I just did not vibe with it.
I will be continuing this series because I know I'll love later volumes. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to write an essay about a car company that changed the car industry. Hasta la vista!
