2.5 or 3-ish☆?

well this was certainly very different... kinda messy though, in my opinion. (messy as in the writing, and how the authors didn't bother to establish anything anymore despite the fact that we barely got to know both lola and oliver in the past two books because they were always kind of like swept to the side. especially lola.)

oliver spent the Whole Book pining, and lola whining. i wish they'd just expanded the world a little? as in allowing these two to actually live in their lives and discover new things and explore instead of keeping their heads in a bubble of their own thoughts and perspectives.

i can't really pinpoint where it went wrong for me, but i felt off the whole time i was reading it because so many things felt unnatural to their characters? (albeit, like i mentioned earlier, we never really got to know them in the previous books.) the kink... i'm sorry i don't know where it came from

I really enjoyed this audiobook. I fell in love with Oliver almost instantly, and the male narrator with the Australian accent had a lot to do with that. He was such an all around good guy that it's hard not to love him. I would look forward to the chapters with his pov, more than Lola's. I found her pretty annoying actually. She was whiny and unsure of herself and too introverted for my taste. But I guess what was so awesome about this couple was that they understood each other. Oliver loved her just the way she was. He got her idiosyncrasies and her need to whole up away from the world at times and how she lived in a comic book world. And she needed his quiet but ever present strength and confidence to reassure her and keep her in the present.

My favorite part of the book and the authors in general is the way they know how to relay angst. This was a classic friends to lovers storyline and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the characters to finally put an end to their wanting and sidelong glances and just hook up already. And when they finally did I just had this goofy smile on my face.

Given that I was really loving this book, what made me downgrade to 3.5 stars was the climax. When everything is going great, the formula is that something has to happen for them to fight, etc and then make up and have a hea. So in this case, I have to say I was disappointed in the drama. It seemed forced and unrealistic. Like not something people would fight over, let alone break up.
I guess it shows Lola's immaturity and lack of experience but it was just weak all around in my opinion.

Also, the shower scene seemed out of character for both Oliver and Lola. It was unnecessary and not that accurately written, and I felt it could have been left out.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and this series.

Thought I could be convinced to like friends to lovers since I liked Oliver and Lola in the last book but I was wrong.

Book summary: Comic book author and artist, Lola, and comic book store owner, Oliver, became besties over the 24 hours they got married and an annulment. Slow burn besties to lovers from there.

What I Liked:
• dual POV!!!
• the group of friends
• two little hot nerds

What I Didn’t:
• girlie pop needs therapy and also probably an autism diagnosis
• my least favorite of the three books

I really like this author and her stories! It was a bit difficult for me to get into Lola’s character more. I didn’t see her the same way the authors portray her in the first 2 books. She was more closed off and panicky which I didn’t like, but I’m madly in love with Oliver so it’s a trade off. ❤️

Dnf @ 22%, just didn’t find the plot interesting. I’m not into superhero/comic movies and the characters didn’t have any other characteristics that were interesting enough to hold my attention.

I would sell my fucking soul just to have someone who loves me as much as Oliver loves Lola my god.
