Pros: Flirting is gold. 

Cons: Unrealistic power description. Lack of description about the length of the trials. Mirrored a lot of previous work like the hunger games, ACOTAR (darling).

šŸ‡³šŸ‡±: Ik heb echt moeite met functioneren na dit boek. Wat een verhaal! Ten eerste Kitt en kai zijn echt geweldig, ze worden zo goed neergezet dat het net is of je ze persoonlijk kent. De romance is slow burn en ik vond het geweldig! Het geeft je precies genoeg om meer te verlangen. De proeven vond ik erg op hunger games lijken, maar dat vind ik niet erg! Het verhaal bevat alle elementen voor een goed fantasy boek. Ik kan niet wachten op de volgende delenšŸ˜  ik had niet verwacht hem zo leuk te vinden. Het is namelijk een vrij dik boek met kleine letters, maar de schrijfstijl is zo fijn. Ik vloog erdoorheen, ondanks dat ik weinig tijd had om te lezen! Het verhaal zelf is niet geheel uniek, maar raakte alle goede plekken. Het gevoel was echt een 5 sterren, dus ik raad het boek 100% aan āœØļø 

Na zo'n einde moet ik natuurlijk ook echt alle delen hebben!

Book one of this trilogy has me excited for the next 2 books. I enjoyed all the banter and relationship building between Kai and Paedyn. Even knowing the ending(through assumption) I wanted to keep reading. Ending was predictable. It did have similarities to other books but I didnā€™t mind it. It was unique in its own way.

I will say this took me a while to get through. The first half of the book was slow going at first and it took me a while to really get invested in things, especially because this book was just over 500 pages long. But once it got going ā€“ oh man. Very intense and kept me guessing and at the edge of my seat the entire time. Would absolutely recommend. 

So if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a crying break before picking up the novella.

It definitely is slow burn, has no sexual content. Which is good donā€™t get me wrong, itā€™s YA, but it could have been closed door. The slowest burn that has ever burned, I might die from these burn scars because I canā€™t get enough from it. If you think this book is enemies to lovers then youā€™re going to be disappointed. It might be rivals to lovers but if Iā€™m going to be serious can it be considered that if theyā€™re attracted to eachother from the start? I still enjoyed the tension between the two and the banter was exquisite. I still think about them. 
It is dual POV tho.
