Dreadful, formulaic, one-dimensional, and some of the worst prose I've ever read. I got about a quarter of the way through before the dialogue, if you can call it that, failed once more to make me believe any of these characters wer real. My only guess is that Mainak Dhar is a ten-year-old

I wanted more from this book.

The synopsis sounded perfect for me- alice in wonderland, only with zombies and dystopia? Awesome.

It started off well, but it devolved into Alice runs around with so-and-so and then someone dies. Then Alice runs around some more, kills somebody, and then somebody dies. Then Alice runs around some more.

I wanted a greater parallel to Alice in Wonderland- not just a mention of the book and a few zombies named after relevant characters. The zombies were neat, and I liked the way the politics of the world were presented post-apocalypse. But at the end of the day, I needed a more concrete plot line and probably a greater hint or indication of what would happen post-novel.

This author has a lot of potential, unfortunately I think he/she (can't tell) was in a hurry to release this one. I bought it because it was 99 cents and had decent reviews. Mistake, but very interesting.

It's really rare that I rate a book this low, but Alice in Deadland just plainly isn't good. The concept is intriguing, but the execution isn't worth even the $0.99 I paid for the Kindle edition of the book. I kept reading to the end in the hopes that it would improve, but it never did. As an Alice fanatic, I felt compelled to follow the story but I now realize it wasn't worth my time. Genuinely disappointed.

I don't like to start a book and then put it down, so I finished reading this.
At first I thought it was full of typos, and then I realized that the author just didn't know how to punctuate correctly. After that, my opinion was that he just didn't know how to write very well.
Several times during my journey through this piece, I had the sensation that I was in a creative writing class and had the unfortunate assignment of reading fellow-classmate Mainak's work. There was almost nothing good about it.
At the very least... the VERY least... Dhar needs to do a search through the text for all occurrences of "its" and "it's" and make sure they are correct. The thing is, I'm not sure he would know if they are correct or not.
This was like reading a video game.

The premise was interesting: Alice in Wonderland with a zombie twist. In execution it lacks 'bite'.

A lot of the characters feel flat. The links to Alice in Wonderland are also kind of tenuous. I thought it might be a parallel, but basically it's about a blonde girl named Alice who follows a bunny ear wearing zombie down a hole. There are a few shout-outs to AIW, but they are fairly minor.

The prose is very straightforward, which some people might like. To me it is a bit like reading a report; telling vs. showing and all that. I feel like there could be so much done to describe the wastelands that Delhi have become. Playing up the descriptions of a foreign setting ruined and twisted by warfare and zombies would do much for the immersion of the book. The idea of a post-apocalyptic foreign land is intriguing, so I think there could have been more to say about the surroundings.

I will say that the ending was a bit of a surprise. I just feel like the book overall is so-so; it could be very good with some improvements.

The ebook is/was 99 cents on Amazon, so for people who really enjoy zombie novels, the price of admission is not prohibitive.
