My biggest issue with this? A distortion of philosophy for sensationalism. "Abandon hope" particularly.

I listened to this book but I wish I read it and had a copy to reference. I zoned out quite a bit. I also think it was quite basic but some things stuck.

I enjoyed her style of writing, I’m not too in with Buddhism lingo though so that was a challenge at times. Would recommend for when you need a bit of hope lol

This book spoke to me... surprise, I get stressed out. I struggle to let go. I feel like I should listen to it a few more times.

this book does have gems of wisdom here and there, but lacks actionable and concrete advice/frameworks that you can actually incorporate into your own life. whenever i felt like the author was starting to make a compelling point, she'd switch gears instead of elaborating on her ideas. the focus on buddhist spirituality and philosophies could've been interesting, but it felt more like she just assumed you'd "get" the profound meaning behind certain stories without her actually needing to explain them. many of the chapters fell flat for me and just didn't click. this self-help book operates more on vibes and spirituality than evidence-based, clearly-explained frameworks.

I was hit by a flood of sprituality and religion that the self help didn't do anything.

equally comforting and uncomfortable. a reminder to breathe, to slow, to examine all feelings and thoughts, to be okay with being uncomfortable. i think i find something about Taoism more compelling than Buddhism, though, in the little I know of each, because there is something in Buddhism that feels a little too much like pushing through exhaustion/distress etc. as just discomfort in the body, which really challenges some of my values. I honestly probably know too little to comment on it, but…observations thus far
