This was a lot of fun. It took some favourite tropes of mine and did a good job with them. The writing is engaging and it kept my attention right through to the end; there were parts where I didn’t want to put the book down.

The chemistry between Maria and Griffin was really good, I just wanted them to act on the tension between them. There was also a good dose of angst in this - there’s a lot of drama and conflict and if you’re in the mood for that kind of romance then this is ideal.

Like, I can say that I don’t think this book would be everyone’s cup of tea - it’s over-the-top and melodramatic for sure. They fall out a lot, they have ridiculous sex, it’s entertaining. I would have liked more of a grovel from Griffin at the end and I did think some of the final drama was a bit dragged out, but ultimately I had fun reading it.

Content Notes: Boss/employee, workplace, grumpy MMC, hate-to-love.

Warnings:
SpoilerMild violence, sexual threat / intimidation, blood, mild injuries, gambling addiction, financial abuse (in past), mental illness, incarceration (on-page), toxic relationship with parents, severe allergic reaction (on-page).

Other:
SpoilerOn-page sex, OW stuff
MMC initially appears to be sleeping with multiple OW over the course of the book but it turns out it’s his friend.
, infidelity / cheating (in past)..

I had planned to only read the book whilst I was commuting … Should I mention how much I failed? I quickly fell into the story and pulled a sleepless night to finish the book. There is something about Mr Parker that gets under your skin, figuratively and literally. You just want to know more and get on to the next chapter. And the little mystery along the romance is just great enough to keep your brain raking, hoping you’re right and hoping you’re wrong at the same time ….
So don’t hesitate and plunge into the world of Griffin and Maria, avoiding with them birds and storms

I did not expect to love this one! This grumpy hotel owner, Griffin, hires Maria. A little misunderstanding makes her think he’s a player but that is worked out quickly. He is obsessive, possessive and will burn the world for her. They both have trust issues and that affects their relationship. There is plenty of open door spice

Another fantastic book from Elle, this story follows Griffin and Maria, and is told in dual perspective.

Maria has been employed to run the spa of the songbird hotel, which Griffin owns and runs.
Griffin’s ex used to run the hotel spa, but after Griffin’s spa formulation got given to a rival hotel, his ex disappeared.
Maria doesn’t want to be micromanaged, and when Griffin won’t leave Maria alone she gets frustrated with his constant questions and checking up on her. Although, what she doesn’t know is that Griffin isn’t micromanaging, but instead he likes Maria and wants to know more about her.

Will these two get past their past history of not trusting people and who did steal the formulation for the spa?

The tension in this book is hot. I adored the side characters and hope to hear more from them. Elle’s writing really captivates you and expels you into another world, you feel each of the characters emotions and fall in love with their story.

Well done Elle on another fantastic read.
P.S love the bird, think it needs its own love story.

And you call that grovelling? Nah. He's such a piece of sh*t. He deserves nothing.
1.5 stars because Maria is such a pure soul.

This book was a mess. First of all we don't get to see their first meeting. He apparently "hunted" for her and we never got to see this.
He has trust issues because his ex manager/ ex girlfriend apparently stole some formulations and sold them to their rivals. So now he's got the best PI ever but this man can't do his job but still after months of searching and finding absolutely nothing Griffin doesn't think to fire this PI. But hey! He's so smart and "perfect". I don't know who lied to this man cause he's dumb af. And why would anyone think he's perfect? He's not!!
I never hated a MMC so much. He's literally the worst.
The plot twist wasn't that great like I knew who it was from the beginning. And there were some serious problems.
If I were Maria I'd sue every single person who lead to her being arrested. And I'd start from Griffin, his company and then the "vogue" team.
This "man" doesn't deserve her. The whole "I own you" "you are mine" " I love you" made me sick.
I really hate him.
When she slapped him I was so freaking happy. I was like wow now she can find her real soulmate but no they got back together

I feel like this is a really toxic relationship with so many issues.
I hate the dynamics. They only ever had sex, didn't go to deep with their feelings and dealing with the issues. It was to much sex and to little plot to make sense.
I forced myself from the beginning to keep on reading because I wanted to like it, but I can't force myself anymore.
