This is the first book that follows Beth and Gareth’s story as the main characters! The story starts right after where the last book ended. In the winter realm.

Is it possible to read the series from here without reading the previous ones?
Yes it is. (The author said so too.) The story follows another couple which where introduced in the previous books. Book 1-4 is about Taylor and Leander. Book 5-8 is about Garett and Beth.

Would I recommend it?
I highly recommend to read the whole series. Why you might ask?
As mentioned before the story begins right where the last book ended. And you won’t get the whole background story if you haven’t read them all.

About the book:
In this book we really get to know Beth and Gareth. Especially the story of Beth’s changeling slave life. The focus in this book is the whole changeling/lesser fae life and how they’re always hunted, sold and mistreated! In this book we follow Beth who is a former slave that lives in the winter realm who is later kidnapped and brought back to the summer realm to her former masters home. Back where she’s tortured or should I say feasted by dogs. In the meantime we have Gareth who is a high fae and the winter realm’s second of command. He’s drawn to her and his feral side have claimed Beth as his mate. This book shows the great length for what a High fae is willing to risk to get his mate back.

With the continuous of this story, this book was not my favorite. I read this one with excitement to get to Beth and Gareth. It started off interesting with Beth kidnapping her going back into her world. It had me very interested but as time went by Beth starting aggravating me with her personality. I realize she is trying to stay light with all her trauma but her entire attitude and her way of trying to use sex to get Gareth to do what she wants in infuriating. She supposedly wants him to want her but the way she is treating him in parts was beginning to really want me to just put the book down. I did not start the next book right away. I will probably finish it as I have a need to finish all series I just hope it turns around. I would like to feel some feelings with the two man characters because right now I just feel like he is chasing her for a bond and she is using her body to get what she wants. (eyeroll)

Woohoo it's Beth time!

Taken was a nice introduction into Beth and Gareth's relationship. Well, I guess the lack of it. He kind of went ape shit with the whole alpha 'you are my mate' crap. He ignored her throughout books 1-4 even though everyone with eyes can see their chemistry. I wanted him to grovel more than he did and I expect Beth to make him sweat it out even longer.

I'm intrigued to see what's going to happen next for these two. If I could somehow make it through all of Taylor's constant kidnappings.. I can damn sure make it through Beth's.

Bring it on.

Beth and Gareth met in the previous books, but now the curse is broken so everyone is getting a fated mate.

Kind of like a Maas book 😉

I liked Beth in the other books. She’s strong and sarcastic and a little broken, and she’s that way here.

If you want a short read with your damsels distressed, multiple kidnappings, and fated mates that can’t have sex for reasons of the plot - this may be the book for you.

Also these books are way too short, so it feels like a serial. And they all end with a cliffhanger.

3.5 stars but I’m rounding up because their story has room to grow.

Free on kindle unlimited.

Delicious beginning!

I am loving Beth and Gareth’s story. This time there is more variety of scene and more landscape. Slavery has always been an issue but this storyline brings it to forefront. Liking this beginning!

Taken

Beth and gareth are an interesting combination. After all the build up between them during Taylor and Leander’s story I was anxious to read their first book. It did not disappoint and I can’t wait to continue reading.
