Solid story on it's own. I always enjoy zombie stories where the elements play a big factor.
In terms of how the author/artist handled Clementine as a character... It's 50/50 for me - I do think it's a genuine to her character, but not the character that we were left with at the end of her story in the Telltale series. Maybe more of a Season 3 AJ-less Clementine. It's not explained in this why she left AJ, and it doesn't seem to be explained in a very satisfying way outside of the story from what I've heard...
That being said, I can see her leaving the school - I don't think she'd want to, but I can see, assuming certain factors, that situation breaking down gradually to the point that she heads out on her own. However, I don't think she'd ever leave AJ. So, I think you really have to seperate Clementine the video game character from the Clementine in this to enjoy it fully.

I'd been looking for to this book since I read the sample chapter on Free Comic Day, and unfortunately I was a little bit disappointed. It ended up feeling like nothing much happened in terms of either action or character development. It didn't help that there were times where I genuinely could not tell what was happening in the panels.

No Walking Dead background necessary to enjoy this book. It’s empowering and complex, with a cast of strong female characters, and is definitely good for anyone into survival stories. My only complaint was that it was really hard to discern was was happening in some of the pictures in the latter half of the book in scenes of snow and darkness, but such a small quibble for such a strong book.

Ehhh, I love Clementine, but it feels like this wasn't super necessary. I liked revisiting Clem and seeing what she's like as a teenager dealing with the world, but the story felt muddled and all over the place. Didn't like the action scenes, the style made them too hard to follow.

I think I'm just no a huge mark for Walking Dead, BUT I do like most of this book. The illustration style and muted (barely any) coloring works in making you feel how desperate and alone this world is. I will definitely be picking up Book 2 this summer! Support Tillie at all costs!

I’ve never watched this show, read these comics or played the video game but this comic was great.

"You find people... you survive together, as long as you can. But you're really just waiting, killing time until it falls apart. And falling apart isn't always something that happens, it's a feeling. A feeling that makes you want to run..."
The greyscale scape is completely a change of pace for this artist, but it's fitting for the zombie apocalyptic world being shown. More of a slow burn tale, I'm curious to see where the next volume takes the series. The continual depiction of same sex love throughout her stories, illness and disabled lead (Clementine has a prosthetic leg) is always a selling point for me, but so far, only one volume in, this is low on my list of favorite tales from Tillie Walden.

I’m a huge TellTale TWD video game fan and Clem is my favorite character. So excited for this series!
