Almost DNFed. The idea was there and most of the writing was pretty good but I didn’t like the insta-lust/love situation or the vocabulary used during a lot of the spicy scenes… some of it just made me cringe a little.

The story read as a romance only that just happens to be set in a fantasy world. There was no typical fantasy world building, the magic never got explained, just skimmed over - I found myself skipping most pages and eventually decided to DNF. I need plot with my romance and the plot just wasn't there.

This is your sign to read this book!

I am a total fantasy girlie, but struggle to recommend it to friends who don’t read fantasy because the world building can be a lot. This book is amazing if you want to get into fantasy without the insane amount of world building. Right from the beginning you are brought into the world and learn things about it as you go instead of having to be told about it. I love this book so much. One horse trope. Enemies to lovers. MMC and FMC POV’s. Betrayal. This book has it alllll. I highly recommend it!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the reader, and I’m so glad I did. This book was an easy read, but still had substance and plot twists I didn’t expect. The FMC is so easy to relate to, and refreshingly different from so many of the others I’ve read recently. We see her change and grow without becoming an incredibly over powered savior. I definitely loved it and can’t wait for the second book. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I would have liked to see a bit more depth to the plot and character development. It wasn’t lacking, but I felt like both main characters had so much more to offer and I only got to observe rather than really get to know them.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and it is exactly what I would want for an easy fantasy romance book! The world building was not difficult to understand which allowed the reader to immerse themselves into the characters and world very easy and very early on. I want to say this is an enemies to lover book but it fell flat and was Insta-attraction/love with very little enemy. The secrets being kept were just waiting to be revealed. My big disappointment with the major conflict in the book just seemed like a toddler temper tantrum and she just gave in so quickly it didn’t seem to match how I thought her character would react. Also the villain plot twist at the end was done beautifully and I don’t think we are done with that story line fully. My second gripe was how NOONE had the thought of remembering what the contract said and getting married. I was screaming from behind my kindle I knew that was about to be a problem. The cliffhanger is nice because it sets you up for book two without leaving you fully in limbo. I am eager still to find out where this story will go and how her powers will be utilized. Also still questioning is this a fated mate trope? It was mentioned once so time will tell!

I really liked this book! The world building was incredible and it included some of my favourite tropes; enemies to lovers, forced proximity, arraganged marriage, seelie fae and magic. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

i started this at 8pm and just finished it at 2am - there was a 0% chance of me putting it down. as soon as the foot hit the gas there were NO brakes fully out of commission. i’m so happy i snagged this during SYKD because i’m definitely hooked on the series. the cliff hanger for this is going to drive me insane until i know what happens 🙃

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love a good enemies to lovers trope and this book had plenty of tension, morally grey characters and a little miscommunication trope thrown in too.

I liked the characters, especially Kera. Although shes a side character, she had great humor and wit. I did suspect certain characters from the very beginning, so I wasn't surprised at all when it was revealed who was targeting Roselyne.

I enjoyed the writing style, it flowed smoothly and helped keep the pacing consistent.

I liked the ending and I do look forward to reading the next book.
