This book has become my new favourite NR WALKER book!!!
Wow! I’m totally speechless.
I got told I’d need tissues. I came close and had the tears welling but they never fell.
But this story was so powerful and emotionally driven.
The pain, hurt, loss, the hate!
All of these were experienced by both Monroe and Erik.
It took strength, willpower, distance and guidance from an expert to get both men to heal and see the light and after years get their own slice of happily ever after ❤️
The hate you drink is now definitely one of my favourite reads!

I'd heard that this was going to be a little darker than the author's other books and it really was. The first third, or the first half even, had so much sadness. Monroe's struggle with alcoholism, Eric wanting to help but not knowing how... there was a lot of tears. The second half was much lighter, which kept the book from being too much.

I liked most the book really, but I wasn't sold on the relationship. Maybe it happened too fast... I don't know. I didn't see why Monroe and Eric were in love. And I was having a really hard time writing a proper review. This is all I could manage.

Not going to lie this book was hard for me to read. Erik & Monroe have been best friends forever and thats part of the problem, they don't force each other to face their issues. Monroe hasn't dealt with his loss, and Erik hasn't forced him to, he enables him to go out when really he should have had an intervention sooner. The book was as painful as it was healing.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

For me, this book was the perfect balance of sad and swoon, rough and romantic. The title hints at a lot of hurt, which is there, but it's also intertwined with a healthy dose of romance and sacrifice, love and friendship. #PerfectBlend

What I Loved:

1. The Characters:
- Erik: Successful and responsible business man, filthy rich and hopelessly in love with his best friend since the moment he saw him back in college. #HopelesslyDevotedToYou

- Monroe: An heir to a successful business which he wants nothing to do with. drowning is grief, guilt and alcohol since his parents died in a plane crash. He doesn't want anyone except his best friend Erik, who ground him at last for a while. #INeedYou

2. The Plot:
Erik gives Monroe an ultimatum after an especially bad alcoholic binge. we then follow both men as they navigate Monroe's rehabilitation and Erik's independence rather than codependence. Monroe needs to let go, and Erik needs to live regardless of Monroe. #Symbiotic

3. The Romance:
Erik has been pining for close to 2 decades and Monroe has been oblivious. we get to experience how Roscoe takes his head out of his a$$ and acknowledges that he too has been in love with Erik...he just didn't know it. #Clueless

4. Steam-o-meter: Medium steam.... #GreedyForMore

5. Angst-o-meter: Angsty but not overwhelming. #Balance

6. POV: 1st POV...dual POV. #InMyHead

7. The HEA: Swoony and sweet. #Perfect
