I didn’t enjoy spending time with either of the main characters. Twist or no, I was rushing to the end just to be finished.

So fun to read! I am a huge fan of Agatha Christie, and even though this is fiction, it has some truth to it.

It was honestly quite boring. The ending was unsatisfying, the character development inexistent and I couldn't care less about the story. This is basically a book of a woman wallowing in self pity and a man with anxiety about the disappearance of his wife. I understand the message the author was trying to send. Strong intelligent women, even ones who are as genius as Agatha Christie, give up their sense of self in marriage. And in the end no one even recognizes the sacrifices they've made. It is a worth while lesson to teach but it was done badly. It was too on the nose and it felt as if you were being battered on the head with it. There was very little else in the story to make it interesting. Everyone knows what happened in the end and how Agatha turns up so a part of the mystery is gone. And the only part that was truly a mystery, why she left, was a weak explanation. Hence, I was left disappointed and would not recommend anyone go in with high expectations.

I love Agatha Christie’s books, and I’ve always been fascinated by her disappearance. I enjoyed this historical fiction account of it. The back-and-forth time periods could be a little confusing at times, but the author pulled it all together really well in the end.

I did enjoy this book even though I didn't find it to be the great mystery that Agatha eludes to at the end. I found the storytelling interesting but also somewhat infuriating. Archie is the most unlikable character I've read in... possibly forever. Agatha's care and fawning over her husband, even at the expense of a good relationship with her daughter, is maybe classic of the time, but Archie's disregard for her and his self absorbed attitude certainly is not. Yet leave it the clever writer of mysteries to turn the tables on him and make his idyllic world come crashing down. I was a little confused on the timeline Agatha summarizes at the end, as her attempts to salvage the marriage seemed genuine and not part of a carefully plotted plan, but overall it was an entertaining read that captivated my attention.

I wanted to love this one. I love Agatha Christie’s mysteries and was curious to learn more about the author in this fictional take on her disappearance. However, I found the plot to be incredibly slow and I figured out the “twist” early in the story.
