As much as I love Alice Oseman, this one was not it. Too many plot lines that are all sorta half finished. Very slow paced until the last 100 pages where suddenly everything is happening (very chaotic and hard to follow). Ending seemed rather unexplained? Angel confused me - one minute she is presenting as the very stereotypical fangirl (whole chapter talking about how The Ark is like a "faith" and "despite everything in the world being terrible, we choose to stand by The Ark") but the next she is 'not like the others'. Would have liked more background/info on Juliet and Bliss as well.

Like other Oseman books, I didn't love this but I also didn't dislike it. It was entertaining, but felt like a self-insertion fanfiction by and about fans obsessed over a boy band. The characters are all fun and the problems they navigate werr intriguing enough to keep me reading to the end.

I found the characters very unlikeable for most of it but at the end I loved them. Fun but intense read. They all need therapy. Refreshing take on fame, fandom, and parasocial relationships.

This book read like One Direction fanfic but not in a good way. None of the characters were really that likable and Jimmy, Lister, and Rowan were all terrible friends to each other. The plot didn’t go anywhere until about halfway through the book, and there were huge plotholes left unanswered???
like Jimmy is clearly suicidal and mentally ill, but no mention of how he’s working on that?? Lister is an alcoholic and it’s just a plot point?? No actual help?? not to mention Bliss only being around to talk about Rowan. AND THE JIMMY/LISTER THING WAS SO WEIRD AND OUT OF LEFT FIELD
Overall, I think this is my least favorite Alice Oseman book thus far, which really sucks because I’ve liked so many of her other books :/
