Does it Hurt was not as dark as I expected.  Some elements yes, but more gruffy dude.  My favorite part was the revenge F; very original for sure although dumb.  Book was more emotional than I expected also.  Some sensitive topics so if you check your triggers.  Book had lots of spice with and edge, that came out of nowhere at times.  Book was also way too long for what it was.  I did enjoy the story, but kept waiting for paranormal elements.  Now I dont' care it if this is a spoiler or not, but this is not a paranormal story.  I will leave it at that.

🌶 Spicy! 😍

Ugh, so good! I purposely didn't reread the back of this after buying it, so I had forgotten what the plot was supposed to be. Truthfully, I think that saved me from predicting a lot, and it made this book soooo much more enjoyable than others I've read.

I really liked both of the main characters, flaws and all. I shed tears, laughed, got.. "worked up," and said WTF out loud while reading this book. I ate it up as quickly as I could. There's no slow lead up to the main part of the story. It's all relevant to the plot, and the spice starts right away and continues readily throughout.

This novel by H.D. Carlton was a departure from their usual style, but in a refreshing way. The story of Sawyer and Enzo's relationship was complex and captivating. Initially appearing toxic, their dynamic evolved into something much deeper and heartfelt. Despite their individual struggles and coping mechanisms, they found solace in each other. Their love story was sweet and transformative, showcasing personal growth and the power of connection. The narrative skillfully weaved in a subplot involving a troubled individual, adding depth and perspective to the characters' own challenges. The book was a delightful blend of romance, character development, and engaging storytelling. It was an amazing read!

Predictable, had potential, but too much sex. Am I becoming a prude or did anyone else just want the story to get back to the damned plot?
The characters were not supposed to be likable and they become a little more likable at the end but they were still annoying.
I think this books started out with so much to offer but was ruined with smut; I cannot believe I am saying this being a huge Outlander/romance novel fan.
I think this book lacked build and anticipation and that is why I felt it sucked. Sorry!
